As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I bring a compassionate and insightful approach to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their unique challenge and strengthen their relationships.
Many people come to therapy after experiencing loss…of a loved one, a relationship, a job, a dream. They also tend to come when they are ready to tackle heavy things in their lives, when they realize their unhealthy patterns are holding them back and it’s time to face them. As some point, we hit a wall and realize how we’re functioning in the world is hindering us from going further, growing more and being happy. This is where I can help.

I specialize in substance and behavioral addictions/recovery and Borderline Personality Disorder as well as relational and family dysfunction, trauma, and interpersonal issues. I use empathy and a brain based approach to help teach and explain how differences in the brain impact our behaviors, emotions, and abilities to be the person we want to be.

Men and women are different, and guys have very specific counseling needs. A lot of men cringe at the thought of counseling, and understandably so. My goal is to show the guy who hates the idea of counseling how helpful it can be and that masculinity isn't inherently negative. Being a man is a good thing and being a good man is even better. My PhD research was on help-seeking behavior in men. I know that making that first phone call seems terrifying, but you owe it to yourself to give this a shot. You owe it to yourself to be well.

Most young adults I meet aren’t falling apart, they’re just tired of pretending they have it all figured out. Maybe things look fine on paper, but inside there’s anxiety, confusion about identity or faith, relationship stress, or a general “what am I doing with my life?” feeling. I help people untangle that mess in a calm, judgment-free space so they can make sense of who they are and where they’re heading, without needing to meet anyone’s script for them.

My specialty has been working with those experiencing the most difficult of individual & marital adjustments and crises.
Counseling should be safe and helpful in practical ways. It should be as brief as possible to meet a person's current need, while at the same time of sufficient duration to provide stabilization. I believe it should provide real-world help for navigating the challenging transitions of life that can interfere with progress toward our desired objectives and design potential. I believe it is critical to cultivate the capacity to live fully and mindfully in the here-and-now to chart a path to a satisfying future.
