I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 12 years of experience in the field.
I create an informal environment where I establish rapport and create a safe space where the client feels comfortable. When we have our first session and the initial intake, I broach the subject of goals and the importance of initially setting a goal or goals. I let clients know that the goals are fluid and can change or become clearer as time goes on.

I feel at home assisting people with marital issues, grief, depression, anxiety, anger, and difficulty adjusting to life change.
There are seasons in life that require a little extra work to get through in a healthy way. My goal is to assist you in these times, respecting the fact that God has placed you in charge of your own life. My goal is to make sure that counseling does not linger on. Instead, counseling should last only as long as you need.

Do you struggle with anxiety, trauma/PTSD symptoms, or relationship issues that keep you from enjoying life? Do you feel hopeless, exhausted, overwhelmed or disconnected by just going through the motions every day? Now more than ever people are struggling to overcome trauma. This is affecting their happiness, family, and friends. Not addressing these difficulties can lead to missing out on the joy that life has to offer.

I also work with spouses whose marriage may have one spouse who travels or is overseas or has work rotations.
One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Life is full of unexpected events that sometimes leave us feeling unsettled. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, grief, childhood trauma, or just need someone to listen and give you a different perspective. Therapy can work for you. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all; therefore, I use a combination of evidence-based therapy techniques tailored to your individual needs. I aim to make sure you feel comfortable as we work together to explore your story and focus on personal growth and healing.

Relationships affect every aspect of our lives whether it be marital or partner-related, interpersonal, familial, or parental.
I have spent the last several years gaining experience in the counseling field by not only practicing, but having been a client for my own growth. I use an approach that is tailored to each individual person; learning their needs, goals, and understanding their story. I am here to help you and if you still don't know exactly what you need, that's okay too.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am trained in working with couples and individuals to help them renew their relationships and create a meaningful life for themselves.
Life can be so overwhelming. You may have found yourself in a relationship where you cannot communicate effectively and the connection you once had is no longer there. The relationship you envisioned for yourself seems so out of reach. Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed and don’t know if it will ever get better. You have a hard time managing your thoughts and feelings and wish you could take back control. This is not the life or relationship that you envisioned for yourself.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
