I am Gottman Method Level 2 trained, EMDR, TFCBT, TBRI, TCTSY (yoga), etc.
Being chosen to hold space for client's vulnerable parts is an honor to me. It is with gratitude and intention that I enter into therapy sessions. I use reflections and lots of outside resources to create a specific plan with clients in session. I am a guide and a support. I value incorporating mindfulness and holistic evidence-based practices.

I am Interna Family Systems (IFS) Informed and have basic training in Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR).
You deserve peace. It can be hard to create space for yourself if you’ve spent your life being told to care for others first. Maybe you've been taught to ignore your own needs, leaving you disconnected from your inner voice. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—I’m here to help you create the space you need to heal and rediscover yourself. I’m passionate about helping people set boundaries in their work, families, and relationships, creating lives that feel authentic and fulfilling. I prioritize creating a safe, affirming space for our LGBTQIA community..

I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and EMDR.
I see clients including adolescents or adults who struggle with anxiety, depression or trauma. I also collaborate with and empower clients who have eating disorders or struggle with body image. I offer psychotherapy in Texas through Zoom. And I see clients in Lubbock in person. I aim to exceed client's expectations for a full and productive life. My personal approach is to practice radically open acceptance of my client through validation, while also expecting change and personal growth. This is particularly important for individuals who have intense emotions along with ineffective coping skills.

Together, we can work to untangle the confusion, build resilience, and foster a deeper sense of self through models like EMDR.
Are you struggling with uncertainty, struggling to find your identity, or working through past trauma? These challenges can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone. My previous experience as both a therapist and a human have lead to my passion for helping families, couples, and individuals explore all of these spaces. My experience as a client in therapy has challenged me to try and create a safe space for these feelings to be explored without judgement or shame.

Connection, compassion, hope, and change are the guiding principles of Every Story Counseling, private practice of Dr. Greg Johnston housed within the Playroom Lubbock. Greg practices from the belief that importance should be given to the client's current story, but that most importantly hope exists for everyone to write new pages and chapters.

I have experience with working with trauma and EMDR trained.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas since 2018, providing mental health and behavioral counseling. I'm guided by the following core beliefs: We each have a unique life story, and how we see our present is impacted by past things that have happened to us. Our thoughts and behaviors shape how we manage relationships and see the world around us. As a standard practice, I approach the therapeutic relationship with acute sensitivity and respect for multi/cross-cultural factors and influence.

I am trained in providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), & my clients have found this very beneficial.
If you are having difficulties and would like some support, I would like to help. I work with a broad range of issues but have a great deal of experience working with people who have experienced different kinds of trauma including childhood abuse and sexual assault, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns (romantic/social/family). I also have interests in working with issues related to identity in a minority population (racial/ethnic, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious). It is important to me to provide a safe, accepting, and multiculturally competent environment for my clients as they explore challenging issues.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
