My therapeutic approach incorporates several evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR, and supportive talk therapy.
Do you ever feel alone, unheard, or overwhelmed? You’re not alone and you don’t have to navigate these feelings by yourself. Sometimes, what we need most is someone who will genuinely listen and be present. My name is Margarita, and it is an honor to walk alongside you by offering a safe, compassionate space where you can feel truly supported and understood. While vulnerability can be challenging, I believe every person holds the strength to rise above even the most difficult obstacles. I have training in EMDR, attachment-based therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, and aim to remain culturally humble by continuing to learn about practice with minority groups.
When life feels heavy and unsteady, having a place to process and reconnect with yourself can make a meaningful difference. I work with people who are adjusting to difficult life changes, looking for better coping strategies, processing stressful events, and improving their relationships with self and others. I aim to make authentic connections with my clients and encourage them to reflect on how day-to-day challenges show up during session.

Often individuals struggle to see how their life could be different. My joy as a therapist is to watch clients heal and gain the tools they need to continue walking through this life. Pain and struggle will be present at times throughout life, but it doesn't have to rule over us.

I'm intensively trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and have advanced training in EMDR.
Every new day is a new chance to change. Life comes with many stages and changes like getting married or divorced, having children, going to college, starting a new job or losing someone close. Whether you are prepared or not these things often create so many emotions, thoughts, and decisions it gets overwhelming. Sometimes you just need someone to listen and help guide you through it. As a systemically trained therapist, I believe it’s the experiences we have had throughout our life with family, friends, partners, colleagues, etc. that shape who we are and influence how we handle what’s going on in our world.

As a trauma-informed counselor trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I work with individuals navigating everything from lingering emotional pain to daily life stressors.
As my own therapist once told me, "If we are breathing, something is going on." This simple truth reflects the heart of my work: everyone is navigating something, and everyone deserves to be seen and heard. Life doesn’t have to be falling apart for you to deserve support. Whether you’re dealing with big things, small things, or things anywhere in between — your experience matters, and I’m here to listen. I value showing up with empathy and presence. My role is not just to validate your feelings but to help challenge patterns that no longer serve you. I aim to support your growth without enabling behaviors that hold you back.

Waitlist for new clients
I am a Certified EMDR therapist and can provide either standard 1 hr EMDR or EMDR Intensives (3 to 6 hrs).
So often we suffer traumas and emotional struggles, feeling like no one will understand or not knowing where to turn. This is one of the reasons I chose to become a counselor. My role in my client's lives is to provide a different outlook and to evaluate possible solutions. I provide my clients with a safe and supportive environment, free of judgement or criticism, where meeting their goals is top priority. I help my clients recognize their choices, as well as the means to get there, and together we will work towards achieving those desired goals.

I completed EMDR training in 2020 and incorporate this approach when appropriate.
On the outside, it may look like you have everything together—but internally, you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in cycles of overthinking. If intrusive thoughts, constant worry, or major life changes are taking a toll, you’re not alone. Therapy can help you slow down, gain clarity, and feel more in control. Many individuals are navigating periods of change—college, career shifts, or relationship stress—while managing internal pressure, perfectionism, or persistent worry. Together, we work to better understand these patterns and develop practical, effective tools to reduce anxiety and create lasting change.

I am an LPC-Associate in Texas, trained in mindfulness and EMDR.
Most young adults I meet aren’t falling apart, they’re just tired of pretending they have it all figured out. Maybe things look fine on paper, but inside there’s anxiety, confusion about identity or faith, relationship stress, or a general “what am I doing with my life?” feeling. I help people untangle that mess in a calm, judgment-free space so they can make sense of who they are and where they’re heading, without needing to meet anyone’s script for them.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
