Hello and welcome! I’m originally from New Mexico, where I quickly recognized the growing need for mental health providers. After living in Texas for over 8 years, I’m proud to call this beautiful state home and look forward to supporting the community here. I love this state, its people, and culture. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology, with a minor in history, and continued my journey at Texas Tech University, where I completed my master’s in Couples, Marriage, and Family Therapy (CMFT) as well as my PhD in the same discipline.

Another day underway... Went to bed exhausted, woke up the same way. Spent an hour last night staring at the ceiling…drift off and bam, time to wake up. Living the dream...not. More like another frickin' long day...spent 20 minutes (you didn't have) searching for your keys. Driving to work, everyone's out to piss you off with their driving. Cut off twice, honked at, and the person tapping their brakes 100 times pushed you over the edge. 15-hour work shifts draining what little energy you have. Mind's all over the place. Overwhelmed and stuck. On your 4th argument of the week with your partner, it’s only Wednesday.

Life is not meant to be managed alone; that is why we have faith, friends, family, and professionals who can always be in our corner when we need them. I would be honored to be that professional in your corner. Though I use the term "professional," you are the expert of your life. I hope to provide a safe and comfortable environment to be an outside set of eyes and ears while you provide me with information about you and we tackle your life together. I am passionate about helping future generations, which starts in the family. It may look like helping a marriage, a parent-child relationship, caregiver, or an individual.

Overwhelmed. Uncertain. Numb. I've sat with many clients who use these words to describe where they're starting from—and I consider it a deep privilege to help those words transform into hopeful, calm, confident, and connected. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating traumatic injuries, chronic illness, childhood trauma, as well as women's health challenges like menopause, infertility, and infant loss. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a strengths-based approach, helping you make sense of your story and build tools for lasting change.

Do you struggle with anxiety, trauma/PTSD symptoms, or relationship issues that keep you from enjoying life? Do you feel hopeless, exhausted, overwhelmed or disconnected by just going through the motions every day? Now more than ever people are struggling to overcome trauma. This is affecting their happiness, family, and friends. Not addressing these difficulties can lead to missing out on the joy that life has to offer.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
