Create change and feel better... Choosing a counselor is a big deal, and I’m here to help make that process easier. In my practice I have seen individuals discover their strengths, heal themselves and create a life worth living. I work along side each client to establish a therapeutic relationship that allows for growth and wellness in a safe and supportive environment. I believe it is important to honor clients' values, unique experiences, and complex journeys. With over 20 years of experience, and 16 years providing EMDR therapy (a modality that can swiftly address anxiety, grief and trauma), I know healing is possible.

Are you tired of not being in your true self and having to act like someone else around others? Are you tired of feeling not good enough, anxious, angry, and afraid? When an individual is not in their true self they become out of balance and so does their relationships. This leads to a negative interactional cycle that causes increased insecurity, loss of self worth, value, and hope. My experience entails working with families, couples, individuals and adolescents that are searching for their true self. To love others you must love yourself first.

If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or both, you know depression is more than just feeling sad and anxiety is more than just feeling worried. Depression can cause overwhelming sadness, take away your joy and motivation, and leave you feeling hopeless and alone. Anxiety may feel like a heavy weight on your chest. It can make it hard to breath or may even cause panic attacks. What you are feeling is your mind and body's way of telling you that they can't take the pain anymore. They are begging you to get help. Are you ready to listen? Are you ready to free yourself from the pain? Are you ready to feel joy and peace again?

Areas of Focus in my Practice: Life Transitions, Depression, Anxiety, Perinatal and Postpartum Depression and Anxiety, Pregnancy Loss, Grief and Loss, Infertility, Work/Family Balance, Transforming Relationships, Parenting, Perimenopause, Menopause
I have dedicated the last 20 years to issues uniquely related to women struggling with overwhelming life transitions, painful family dynamics, grief and loss, and mood disorders. I strive to provide a safe place where you can speak freely without fear of judgement and be fully understood. It is from this emotionally safe place that you will gain insight into yourself and your relationships. Often, what we believe about ourselves is inaccurate, and the resulting misplaced guilt is common among women. We will explore and develop new ways of perceiving yourself and others, while practicing new communication styles and strategies.

I also work often with adults and teens to provide support though the myriad of concerns and struggles that arise throughout life with infertility being one of my specialities.
Regardless of age, I typically operate from the client-centered perspective in which I believe that you are the expert of you and that with support, encouragement, and guidance you are able to determine what fits best for your life and your situation. Essentially, I do not follow a one size fits all approach and understand that we are all unique.

Additionally, I understand the impact of choosing to be a parent, and the struggle when infertility and loss get in the way.
Hi there! I know how scary it can be to reach out for help. With close to 20 years of experience, I feel lucky to provide support to children, adults, and families on their healing journey. I get as much from the relationship as my clients do from their own growth. I provide therapy from a humanistic, developmental perspective, meaning I focus on your past experiences and your current stressors to help you feel peace. Our relationship is the most important part of therapy, so I strive to create a warm, safe, and compassionate place to help you grow.

Infertility Therapists
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
