ADDICTION & DEPENDENCY result from an unconscious refusal to move through the pain of withdrawal (from a chemical, thought-process, behavior, other person, etc.). The behavior gets repeated, accompanied by cycles of disappointment, shame, GRIEF, frustration and isolation. Having experienced this same cycle (more than once) I bring years of education, training, personal recovery experiences and compassion to our therapeutic relationship. My practice embraces an all-encompassing approach toward making changes in multiple areas of your life based on Albert Ellis's theory of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Ellis believed that if you change your thinking, you can change your life. I believe it is important to explore multiple areas of your life and the beliefs you act upon in order to discover opportunities where you can implement empowering changes. I practice from a Christian perspective but welcome clients from any faith. I want my clients to feel empowered, encouraged and educated during the counseling process.
