I work with a wide range of emotional and life issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief to
parenting
support, couples counseling and beyond.
We all have periods of time in our lives where we experience struggle. The pain of feeling that we are unworthy of love and belonging and the constant comparison between ourselves and others can make daily life difficult. We all need someone who will listen, validate and be a part of our many emotions depending on what's happening in our lives. I feel that everyone is capable of finding and maintaining the best version of ourselves when we take the time to examine the barriers in our own lives.

As a
parent
myself, I understand the struggle is real AND how helpful it can be to have support.
Whether your child or adolescent struggles with self-esteem, stress, difficult behaviors, history of trauma or abuse, relationships, school or is experiencing a big life transition such as divorce, death, or illness - or they are expressing feelings of anxiety or depression with no known trigger, - therapy can be a safe space for them to work through their emotions and build on coping strategies. While my current practice is dedicated mostly to child/adolescent clients, I do work with some adults, especially those impacted by cancer, bereavement, infertility, reproductive trauma, ADHD, or
parenting
concerns.

My passion is working with family members of those struggling with addiction. Whether you are a spouse, child or
parent
, your life has been deeply impacted by your family member's addictive disease. As loved ones, we have often focused on our sick family member so long that we have lost ourselves. It takes support, education and courage to find balance. I have found that when loved ones get help for themselves, their family member often gets healthier. I also have deep compassion for parents, particularly d mothers, who are working to rebuild relationships with their children after battling their own addiction.

Do you walk on eggshells in your relationship? Do you exhaust yourself making everyone happy? I give you specific knowledge and practical tools to restore your sense of self-worth and sanity. Clients often reach out after years of trying to satisfy and appease their
parent
, partner or family member. They describe such relationships as ‘crazy making”, painful, controlling and draining and fake. Hiding your true self, feeling anxious, hyper vigilant, confused, hopeless are all signs something is very wrong. All attempts to emotionally regulate the other backfire and we begin to wonder if our loved one may be narcissistic/borderline.

Life is a journey that we each take and sometimes we can become tired and overwhelmed. It can be the weight of going through each day completing basic tasks, or the weight of being a
parent
, a spouse, a child or a friend that becomes too much to handle by yourself. If you have been feeling this way, I would love to be that person to sit, listen, and be present with you. Seeking out a therapist, for some, is overwhelming and out of their comfort zone. I want this experience to be one that offers you peace and a feeling of safety as we process and problem solve the many issues that life throws our way together.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
