"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results." ADDICTION & DEPENDENCY result from an unconscious refusal to move through the pain of withdrawal (from a chemical, thought-process, behavior, other person, etc.). The behavior gets repeated, accompanied by cycles of disappointment, shame, GRIEF, frustration and isolation. Having experienced this same cycle (more than once) I bring years of education, training, personal recovery experiences and compassion to our therapeutic relationship. My PERSONAL therapeutic process is on-going. I would be honored to help you in yours. EASY? Nope. WORTH IT? Yes!

Has caregiving become your prominent role? Are you part of the sandwich generation? Are you squeezed between caring for a child/grandchild and aging parents, relatives, siblings, or friends? Middle-aged women are increasingly faced with caring for multiple generations within a family system. Nearly half of middle-aged Americans are currently experiencing this “sandwiched” effect, including the anxiety and grief that goes along with it.

I work with high-achieving, career-focused adults -as well as preteens and teens- who are navigating chronic stress, mental health challenges, work- life balance, and emotional growth.
Having grown up in a success-driven environment and having built a career in Silicon Valley, I have a deep understanding of the mental and emotional challenges faced by high-functioning individuals. When others look up to you as a model of success, it can be difficult to acknowledge and accept your own struggles.

For adults and couples, I often work with trauma histories, relationship strain, life transitions, and personal growth challenges.
Reaching out for therapy — for yourself, your child, or your relationship — can feel overwhelming. You may be navigating trauma, family conflict, anxiety, communication breakdowns, or simply feeling stuck in patterns that aren’t working anymore. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone. With over 20 years of experience in the social work field, I bring a compassionate, grounded, and open-minded approach to my counseling practice. I believe in creating a space where every person feels seen, valued, and supported exactly as they are.

Whether you are trying to define your "new normal" due to loss or life changes, or you are needing new strategies for yourself or your child to better thrive emotionally, I strive to maximize time in sessions and focus on practical application.
How do I break the loop of overthinking? Why do I slip into the same patterns at work and at home? Is there more for me? Why is my child having difficulty at school and having meltdowns at home? These questions may sound familiar. At Golden Paws Counseling Services PLLC, I provide trauma-informed interventions and neurodiversity-affirming support for children, adolescents, and adults. My practice includes virtual (for Texas residents), in-person, and animal-assisted interventions to help with symptoms of anxiety, nervous system and emotional regulation, navigating change, transitions, and loss, and enriching relationships.

Difficult life events such as a relationship breakup, divorce, addictions and depression demand learning new coping skills.
Cognitive-behavioral and Mindfulness tools foster strength by reprograming the brain to embrace a proactive attitude. I use Eye Movemnent Desensitization and Reprocessing to heal trauma and compulsive behaviors in many areas. I also use the Detur protocol to quell relapse tendencies. I love working with couples, individuals and families.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
