Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists in Lake Dallas, TX
I provide individual therapy sessions and have a passion for working with couples and families. I also provide behavioral therapy to modify problematic behavior, particularly in children, within the family dynamic, and I help adults overcome addictive behaviors. I believe that the path to success first starts in one's mind. "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he…" —Proverbs 23:7. I like to help my clients "think" on a higher frequency, which leads to a higher quality of life. In my work, I have clients review worksheets and videos, I challenge their thinking, and I help them make the best decisions for themselves.

Not accepting new clients at this time.
Feeling like you’re running on empty, and no one seems to notice?
Do you appear “fine” on the outside, but inside feels anxious, edgy, fake or like the past is still running your life?
I welcome adults who are ready to stop simply “managing” life and begin healing from life. You may have tried self-help books, podcasts, YouTube videos, medication adjustments, maybe other therapies and yet you still feel fragmented, stuck in patterns, or like you’re carrying more than you should.

In today’s world, it’s easy to lose touch with ourselves and our feelings. So if you’ve felt a little lost or stuck, like something just isn’t right, or maybe even felt nothing at all, therapy is a great space to figure things out.

Many of my clients are high-functioning adults who feel pressure to keep it all together. On the outside, they are professionals, leaders, caregivers, or veterans who show up daily and get the job done. On the inside, they may be carrying anxiety, unresolved trauma, stress, anger, burnout, or the weight of expectations. They want clarity, emotional stability, and relief from patterns that keep repeating. More than anything, they want to feel steady again and confident in their decisions, present in their relationships, and at peace within themselves.

You're driven, accomplished, and often the one others depend on. But under the surface, it feels like you're unraveling. You keep asking yourself, "Why do I feel so alone in this?" Maybe it's the miscommunication in your relationship, the anxiety you hide so well, or the burnout from trying to be everything to everyone. Whether you're feeling disconnected from your partner or from yourself, you're here because something needs to change. You want to feel seen, grounded, and understood. And you're finally ready for support that actually works.

It's a brave act to begin to understand your story, take control of your own life and live the life you deserve!
Most of the people I work with are aware of a quiet longing — for something honest, a slower rhythm instead of always pushing, a sense of restoration instead of the burnout that quietly drains them. They’re tired of always being the strong one, of managing anxiety, stress, or emotions behind a calm, capable exterior. They’re worn out from carrying expectations that don’t even feel like their own. Maybe this sounds familiar. From the outside, your life works. You’re capable, reliable, the one people lean on. You’re successful in your career, at school, or at home. But inside, you’re tired. You want space to breathe ...to be seen..

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
