I tend to work from mindfulness based therapeutic approaches but would consider myself to be eclectic.
Therapists take on a number of different roles in their work. I predominately view my role as guide. One of the goals of this practice is to help clients discover a deeper sense of self and acceptance. Another intention of this practice practice is to help clients build and maintain the necessary tools they already have existing within themselves, and lead clients to new discoveries of living life in a more balanced and enjoyable way.

Turn your never-ending pattern of defeat with your partner into an ever-growing source of enrichment. You may feel unwanted, unvalued, rejected or unsafe in a relationship that used to be marked by love and intimacy. Despite your best efforts, every interaction ends in a damaging fight or excruciating loneliness. These are predictable experiences to problems that have a highly effective solution.

My ideal client would be where you find yourself trying to hold it together, and you may not look for help until a situation has gotten worse and its almost a crisis. That situation will significantly affect your life, and you will hit a breaking point. This might be self-esteem, anxiety, depression, adjusting to life changes, codependency, grief, health issues, or just feeling stuck. It's hard to ask for help but here you are, and what you thought might work is not working any more. You would find yourself in my office feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, confused but feeling like you had taken the first step to finding HOPE.

I am trained in mindfulness-based therapies that encourage full engagement in your life (yes, even in the uncomfortable moments).
If we allow them to, anxiety, stress, and uncomfortable feelings can run our lives. My passion lies in helping you to find freedom and movement from these uncomfortable feelings rather than stagnation and suffering. Together, we will explore how you respond to uncomfortable feelings and find healthier, more productive and more genuine ways of responding that fit with your values in all areas of your life.

My approach is warm and collaborative, using proven techniques, mindfulness, and cultural awareness to meet you where you are.
Have you been carrying the weight of trauma, anxiety, or life’s transitions alone? You don’t have to anymore. As a first-generation, bilingual therapist, I deeply understand the unspoken challenges of being an immigrant child—balancing two cultures, navigating family expectations, and feeling the pressure to succeed. These early experiences shape how we form relationships, manage emotions, and view ourselves. If you find yourself repeating patterns of self-doubt, guilt, or emotional exhaustion, I’m here to help. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can heal, grow, and break free from generational cycles.

I am a mindfulness therapist, but have worked in crisis, addiction recovery, and spent the last ten years working at a community mental health center.
Hello, my name is Doc Davis and as a person who has often lived outside the "mainstream" of society, I enjoy working with others from the gamer, cosplay, fandom, nerdom, LBGTQ+, kink, and other so called "fringe" communities. It is often hard enough to feel like we fit in throughout our lives, and when we align ourselves with things that some may shun, it can be infinitely more complicated and sometimes devastating. With issues around social anxiety, self-identity, navigating the nonacceptance of others, and self-acceptance being just some the things people have to deal with, it can often get in the way of a truly authentic self.

In sessions, you could expect to engage in visualization and mindfulness exercises and use craft supplies to explore therapeutic content in a new way.
I help anxious young professionals change the way they relate to painful thoughts & emotions so they can live a life guided by their values rather than their fears. You might feel like life is mostly going okay. You might compare yourself to others and think “I shouldn’t be complaining” and yet you keep getting stuck in this painful cycle and you’re sick of it! You could be struggling with internal criticism, feeling directionless, unresolved feelings from the past or paralyzing anxiety about the future. If so, schedule a free consultation call now to learn more. I also specialize in treating OCD, hair pulling and skin picking.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Experiential Therapy, which help clients gain awareness and create meaningful change.
Feelings, emotions, communication, and relationships are fundamental aspects of life that can often feel challenging to navigate and even harder to change. With this in mind, I focus on supporting individuals, couples, and families in gaining deeper insight into themselves and their connections, helping them break old patterns and move forward in a way that aligns with their goals.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
