As a therapist, I see myself as a guide someone who walks alongside you as you deepen self-understanding, build self-acceptance, and reconnect with the strengths you already have. My goal is to help you create a more balanced, meaningful, and joyful life. I believe many of our inner resources are already within us; therapy simply offers the space to uncover them. In a safe and supportive environment, we slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. As you gain awareness of the factors influencing your challenges, you can make intentional changes, align with your values, and move forward with greater clarity.

For a lot of people, navigating emotional reactions can feel big and scary for lots of reasons. Maybe you don't know how to express them well and that's causing friction in your relationships, or maybe the fact that you have emotions at all makes you uncomfortable. What I do really well is help people navigate emotional regulation and expression. Getting stuck in emotional cycles? I can help with that. Struggling to maintain relationships? I can help with that. And because I'm a pragmatist, the most important and guiding principle in my work is the question "does this actually work for me?"

Trauma affects how we think, feel, and relate to others, particularly during experiences of grief, loss, and major life transitions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) offers practical, evidence‑based tools to understand these patterns and support meaningful change in our lives. My primary focus areas are grief and loss, men’s issues, and trauma. I work with adults and teens—especially men—who may feel stuck, emotionally isolated, or unsure how to move forward. Using a trauma‑informed CBT approach, I help clients process loss, navigate life transitions, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and resilience.

In my experience, I believe that we are all capable of extraordinary things. I understand that seeking therapy might feel intimidating and that is why my goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and valued. I would describe my therapy style as encouraging and genuine. Therapy can be a challenging process, so I work to help my patients acknowledge and utilize their strengths and positive qualities to create changes in their lives.

Hi, I'm Zay. Many of the people I work with have built something real - a career, a reputation, a life that looks right from the outside. And yet something in them is exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix and weekends don't touch. That kind of exhaustion lives in the body, not just the mind. Tension that won't release. A nervous system that can't downshift, a sense of going through the motions while the parts of you that used to feel alive have gone quiet. If you're a high-achieving adult who is burned out, disconnected, or quietly questioning whether the life you've built is the one you actually want, this work is for you.

You’re strong and capable, used to holding everything together, but lately it feels heavier than it should. You may be exhausted from overthinking, managing conflict, or carrying responsibility for everyone else. Beneath it all, unresolved trauma can quietly shape how you live your life. I’m a trauma-focused psychologist for adults who need guidance to recover. Together, we’ll gently explore how your past and your identities (e.g., race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, gender, etc.) have shaped you, and create a steady, thoughtful path toward relief, clarity, and a more grounded sense of self.

I help my clients examine patterns of thought and emotion which perpetuate unwanted behaviors and life circumstances. As we uncover the blocks that operate below conscious awareness, we open up new possibilities for living a better life. My clients walk away from sessions feeling heard, validated, understood, and empowered to take responsibility for effecting meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

I specialize in men’s issues. I've always felt pushed to be a "lone-wolf" and culture told me to "be a man" or "get over it" when it came to my emotions. As men, when we have a problem we deal with it on our own, often by using pornography, drinking, playing video games, or searching elsewhere for affection. We lie, we defend, we run. We constantly look for peace and acceptance, even if it’s temporary or fake. It can feel hard to trust those closest to us and we may think, “No one is going to take care of my needs but me” or "if they really knew me, they wouldn't love me."

Authenticity is what I offer my clients. No painted on smile. No pretense. Just a commitment to helping you do the work... “Everybody deserves to be seen. Everybody deserves to be heard.” Growth, progress, is a lifetime commitment that begins with the desire for better. The desire to both do and be better. The first step on this journey is making a commitment to yourself, a commitment to taking the necessary steps. A commitment to doing the work, daily. A commitment to having expectations, setting personal goals and seeing them through. A commitment to being the very best version of you.

I was in the United States Marine Corps from 1998 to 2003 and during this time I learned a great deal about myself and became more culturally diverse during my time in the Marines. During my third year of service, I became injured at Officers Candidate School and realized that I needed to develop my counseling skills so I worked with an agency that counseled teens regarding their addiction. I have been in the social services field for the past twenty years and have been licensed for the past 10 years.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
