You don’t have to love every moment of motherhood to be a good mom — and you don’t have to navigate anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or life transitions alone.
I primarily work with women and mothers, including those navigating pregnancy and postpartum, who are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of who they’re becoming in this season of life. Many of my clients are caring, capable people who are used to holding everything together while quietly struggling inside.

I remember the first time I heard the Brené Brown quote, "You can have courage, or you can have comfort, but we can't have both. Not at the same time." I may have uttered an expletive or two as I was surrounded by colleagues at a retreat; it hit a little too close to home. I find myself deeply honored to be there at the moment when a person recognizes that they want more than what they've currently been experiencing. To walk the journey alongside a person who longs for deeper connections, freedom from their history, or who wants to experience truer joy - it is a tremendous privilege.

The journey of family building and parenting can be both tender and overwhelming. From pregnancy decisions and infertility, to miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, and the everyday realities of parenting, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and steadiness. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a full-spectrum doula, supporting people through pregnancy, birth, loss, and postpartum. That work gave me a deep appreciation for the lasting impacts of birth experiences—whether empowering, complicated, or traumatic—and continues to shape the sensitivity and care I bring into the therapy room.

What is keeping you from going after the life you truly want? Most of my clients' lives are circumstantially difficult. If you live with medical uncertainty as a patient or caregiver, for example, it can be hard to feel safe or confident you will get what you need. If your childhood did not teach you much about feeling safe or self-reliant, figuring that out as an adult isn’t especially intuitive. Therapy is a great place to address issues that feel irrational or to regroup when you feel stuck for whatever reason. Even when life is hard, you still get to do your life your way. Feel your feelings and act from a position of strength.

Deciding to speak to a therapist is a step in the direction of health - mental, emotional, and sometimes physical. My clients usually come to me after they have tried all they can think of - I feel honored to be their next step and honor the steps they've already taken. Whether a client's concerns pertain to parenting or becoming a parent, perinatal mental health, life transitions, ADHD, or general mental health, I enjoy working together with my clients to determine the best next steps for them.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
