Therapists for Teens and Adolescents in Kilgore, TX
I have worked with teens and adults with anxiety and depression for approximately 3 years.
Life is one stressful event or circumstance after another. You’re always getting knocked out of balance,
making you anxious or depressed. You want peace and happiness in your life, but you feel more like a
hamster on a wheel than someone with the agency and intentionality needed to actually make a
change. Tomorrow is the day! You talk yourself into being motivated enough to start a new life. Then,
tomorrow comes… and it’s the same old story. Between work, responsibilities, and distractions, you
never get on course. You suspect your feelings of isolation and aimlessness have something to do with
past trauma, but you’re not sure.

You’re the one who holds everything together, but inside it feels like you’re unraveling. You may struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, overgiving, or old trauma that still impacts how you think, feel, and show up. On the outside, you seem fine. On the inside, you feel overwhelmed, numb, or constantly on edge. You don’t want endless processing, you want clarity, calm, and real change. I help you understand your patterns, regulate your emotions, and build a life that feels aligned instead of just survived.

People stay stuck in suffering because the mind acts like it has little hands that grab onto the details of painful experiences in order to try to solve them or protect you from future pain. Except there is no solution.
We work together through a series of exercises to tell your mind to let go of those things, to leave them in the past so you can live freely in the moment.
This approach works on anxiety, depression, addictive behaviors, lust issues, childhood traumas including memories of past sexual abuse.

I have over 15 years of experience helping adolescents and adults facing challenges.
Healing starts with a conversation. Conversations offer an exchange of information that can increase our awareness. Awareness increases when we learn to accept who we are, examine the emotions behind our response, and challenge ourselves to see things from another perspective. The insight learned through confidential, nonjudgmental, and in-depth conversations can affect change and foster goal attainment. We cannot change what we do not know or acknowledge. I look forward to learning about you, helping you identify your assets, and exploring ways you can manage life's challenges.

I work with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, or neurodivergence, offering a supportive and nonjudgmental space to build stability.
In our first session, I focus on creating a comfortable space where you can talk openly about what’s been going on. I’ll ask questions to understand your experiences and what you want to work on in therapy. Together, we’ll begin identifying clear goals and a direction for treatment.

It is time for you start being the person you were meant to be. There may be many things that prevent you from getting where you want. However, you deserve to prioritize your own self-care and live your life to its true potential. Our relationships and our self-perceptions can easily become distorted. We must often take a step back to look forward to the next chapter to get the things we want in life.

What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
