Great parents and great teachers struggle every day feeling like they can't help their kids figure out how to behave and survive their everyday life. They spend day after day fighting, yelling and being exhausted, and having nothing change. Their kids have dysregulated bodies that make them anxious, hyperactive, and sometimes even aggressive. My goal is to help these kids learn to calm and control their body and to help their adults to support them in doing this. I specialize in supporting kids with dysregulation disorders such as autism, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, and trauma.

¡Hola! I am an advocate for working with all marginalized populations. I empathize with experiences related to micro-aggressions, discrimination, intergenerational trauma, substance abuse, violence in the home, and other oppressive and traumatic experiences. I enjoy working with clients who are aware there's a need for change, and I am dedicated to working towards goals that may be unclear at first. I thoroughly believe that we are all the experts of our own lives and only we can recognize the struggles we’ve faced.

We all hit bumps in the road that we feel unequipped to handle. If you are reading this, you are probably experiencing one of those now. I work with my clients to help them to navigate thorough life's challenges. I do not have a handy manual to offer simplistic answers for your life. What I do offer is to listen to you without judgment, to help you identify the obstacles that keep you from moving forward, to help you find internal resources, and to work with you to help you discover the answers that work for you. I can teach you to be more compassionate with yourself since being human is to struggle.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor deeply committed to helping people navigate life’s most challenging mental health experiences. Therapy, for me, is more than a profession. It’s my way of changing the world, by helping the people in our world heal and live happier, healthier lives. At the heart of my work is a simple belief: if we want to change the world, we begin by helping the people in it. Therapy can be the first step—one act of courage, one insight, one person at a time

Are you navigating conflicting messages about who you should be from family, society, or yourself? Are you carrying the weight of trauma tied to your cultural or familial experiences? Are you the only one in your family trying to break harmful generational patterns? Many of my clients resonate with these questions. You may feel isolated in your efforts to heal and grow or overwhelmed by the weight of the past traumas or systemic injustice. You're seeking connection and support from someone who "gets it"—someone who can relate to their experiences and provide a collaborative, culturally attuned approach to healing.

Why are some relationships just so… HARD. You always end up mistreated, abandoned, or taken for granted. They start okay, but it’s not long before you’re astounded at how you don't get back as much as you give. You’re so hungry for love and connection, but no matter how hard you try, you end up feeling disappointed, hurt, or left behind. It leaves you with all sorts of questions, like whether you’re good enough or deserve love. It’s a real shot to your sense of self-worth. Despite your hard work and achievement, your struggle in a relationship(s) – dating, romance, friendship or family – it leaves you feeling unsure and anxious.

Hi, and welcome! My name is Ann, and I'm a therapist who works with clients who are highly conscientious and feel pressured to keep it all together. As someone who’s also wired this way, I understand how exhausting it can be to mask your emotions, constantly scan for mistakes, and struggle with feeling misunderstood. I support college students who push themselves to excel but quietly struggle with focus, burnout, and a tough inner critic. I also work with folks in recovery from substance use who are learning new ways to express their emotions, trust their intuition, and build meaningful relationships.

My ideal clients are couples or families feeling stuck in cycles of disconnection, miscommunication, or emotional distance. They want to feel closer, understood, and more supported—but aren’t sure how to get there. Many are navigating betrayal, life transitions, or long-standing conflict, and they’re seeking a space to rebuild trust, gain insight, and learn healthier ways of relating. They’re motivated by a desire for change and a hope that things can feel better, together.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
