Is your teen struggling? Are they worried, anxious, or depressed? Maybe they're just moody. Maybe this is just a phase. Is this what you've been telling yourself? I have been working with teens for years inside and outside of the counseling setting. The teenage years can be tough. It's a time of major development in the brain and lots of hormonal and bodily changes. This can cause teens to react in many different ways.

Reclaim the joy back in your life! Whether you want to live a fuller, happier life. Or, maybe you have an internal yearning to grow and to learn about yourself, your life, and your world. Maybe you want to improve your performance in academics, work, relationship, or modify a specific behavior. Maybe secretly, you want to feel more confident ... therapy can be a powerful tool. Therapy can act as a catalyst in facilitating changes from an inner core. As a clinical psychologist, I provide individual therapy to women and men -- to help them achieve their goals.

You’re tired of being the strong one and you’re also at a place in life where you want to be authentically you. You’re ready to experience the things in life you consider luxury. You're ready to change but you're unsure about the unknown. And the unknown brings fear because that means you don't have control. Has your child been irritable, sad, out of sorts, anxious, or unmotivated lately? Is your child having a hard time sleeping, making friends, or dealing with grief, pain, or out-of-control circumstances? Does it seem like parenting in today's world is much harder than when you were growing up? Do you need support as your family works through something difficult? Like adults, Children and adolescents experience feelings of stress, depression, grief, trauma, and social anxiety. They often need different types of therapy, however, depending on the child's developmental level, personality, and issues that need addressing.

Each day, everyone is doing the best they can. Yet sometimes the usual ways no longer work or begin to cause more problems than they help solve. Frustration, a sense of helplessness, or even hopelessness can set in when things do not seem to improve. Fortunately, each of us has the option and freedom to change our experience - whether it be how we feel, the way we think, or what we do - even when nothing (or no one) around us changes.

I believe that regardless of where you've been, what you've done, or where you are now, you inherently have value and worth. My mission is to help you see your inherent worth, and to journey along a path in which we can discover the authentic you. My speciality is young adults who are survivors of trauma including, but not limited to, childhood abuse and neglect and sexual abuse. Ultimately, I believe the relationship between therapist and client is the most important thing, so I work to tailor my approach in a way that is unique and best fits each individual client.

I'm so glad you're here! Because you're here, that means you're ready to discover a life of truly thriving. You've worked incredibly hard in your career. You've supported those around you and given so much of yourself, that you now you're in a space where it feels like you're on "E." You have so many others that look to you and depend on you for so much, that it's left you feeling isolated, taken advantage of, under valued, and unsupported. You're often the one holding up the tired arms of others, showing up when there are needs, but rarely have that reciprocated for you. Let me just say, you deserve more. You deserve better.

Professionals face a unique set of challenges. We're expected to manage many roles, and perform them well and without complaining. Many of us do a wonderful job anticipating the needs and wishes of others, but this commonly comes at the sacrifice of our own needs, goals and dreams. If you're feeling sad, anxious, dissatisfied, irritable, angry, empty or exhausted, chances are you're being presented with an opportunity to learn about your true self. It's never too late to develop and implement your own dreams. Counseling can help determine the source of difficulties you're experiencing. NOW OFFERING TELEHEALTH ONLY!!!

WE OFFER PHONE AND VIDEO SESSIONS. Able to offer ADHD and personality testing. Trading authenticity for safety leads to sacrifices in your life, resulting in anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, etc. One of my goals is to guide you in a daily practice of letting go of who you feel you are supposed to be and embrace who you are. At the end of the day, I want you to feel heard. Through my work with grief, trauma and abuse, I have discovered how necessary it is to live authentically and be able to trust those around you. It is crucial for clients to feel as though they have a part in their therapeutic process and recovery

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
