My other area of specialization is dealing with issues related to various traumas -
anxiety
, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, acute traumatic stress, phobias, obsessions & compulsive disorders.
Our basic theory is that therapy can help a client deal with current issues -and works best when the client and therapist join together to work on these issues. I don't believe therapy should take a lifetime, but I hope to be your therapist, as needed, through out your life.
I specialize in "Relationship Issues" - through Counseling and Coaching. My goal is to help the Couple decide what is best for them, & help them accomplish that.. . In Couples Coaching, the partners learn life skills that will change their relationship. Couples Coaching focuses on proven skills and techniques for the quickest, solution to couples' issues.

Anxiety
, self-doubt, sadness, and relationship issues can be overwhelming.
My goal as a therapist is to provide you a safe, non-judgmental environment to process your stressors and help you proactively engage in learning new or refining current coping skills. I utilize several different therapy modalities, including person centered, CBT, DBT, and ACT. Each of these can be modified based on your goals for counseling. Therapeutic neutrality is woven into my approach, which helps me guide you to find your own solutions through talk therapy. I believe we all have the strengths and skills to address and conquer our struggles, sometimes we need a little help- and that's ok.

Is your teen struggling? Are they worried, anxious, or depressed? Maybe they're just moody. Maybe this is just a phase. Is this what you've been telling yourself? I have been working with teens for years inside and outside of the counseling setting. The teenage years can be tough. It's a time of major development in the brain and lots of hormonal and bodily changes. This can cause teens to react in many different ways.

WE OFFER PHONE AND VIDEO SESSIONS. Able to offer ADHD and personality testing. Sometimes the hardest step is the first one, and part of my goal is to ensure that you feel safe in the therapeutic relationship. Without that feeling of trust, it can be hard to gain ground on the changes you want to see. My clients would describe me as tough and goal driven - I strive to ensure we are working on your goals both in and out of the session (my clients may also describe the homework I send their way). Our offices also provide ADHD, Personality (Diagnosis) and Autism testing.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
