Let's decolonize mental health. Your well-being should not come at the expense of authenticity. No matter where you are in your life, the world can feel isolating and exhausting, especially when we do not fit neatly into narrow roles we are told are acceptable. Through connection and community, we develop the skills and language to describe our experiences. You get to define the terms of your own existence, you may already have the words or they could be difficult to find. Our therapeutic connection can provide a space for you to feel safe and validated while exploring this.

"All of us struggle with changes and challenges in our lives. My goal as a therapist is to provide encouragement and hope to my clients and to empower them with practical tools and techniques that facilitate positive growth. I communicate empathy and respect to my clients as well as a good sense of humor. I believe that much of our personal healing results from just feeling accepted and having someone who truly listens and seeks to understand. I encourage my clients to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and actions and to be proactive rather than reactive."

Through my experience and training I have developed effective and eclectic skills which will give you insight into what is behind your feelings and behaviors. Through this insight-oriented process, together we can identify and nurture the kind of personal change that will make your therapy successful. This is as true for children and teenagers as it is for adults although the path with young people is less insight-oriented and more experiential. As a very qualified and experienced therapist, I have the skill set needed to achieve the changes you are looking for no matter what your age.

Specialties include: adult neurodiversity ( ADHD , Autism +), bipolar, anxiety, depression, highly sensitive person, narcissist & borderline concerns, women in tech & STEM, body image, family dynamics & conflict, child-parent issues, underlying needs, communication, boundaries.
I help clients increase self-understanding, manage healthy relationships, & navigate career/societal challenges. I believe it’s important to feel proud of the things that make you unique & unlearn ideas that these traits are flaws. Self-acceptance begins when we take time to really notice who we are, the way we function most naturally, & how our identities have been infused with negative messages over time. New behavior strategies can help to a degree but often lead to exhaustion. Self-acceptance & self-compassion address issues at their root. With permission to be imperfect & by sustaining self-validating beliefs, we can relax.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and teenagers with anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD , ODD, behavioral issues, and poor self-esteem.
My passion is working with children, adolescents, and families to help them develop the skills they need to successfully navigate the problems and challenges in life. I believe that children best express themselves through play, and through their play, we can gain access to their inner world. I also enjoy working with adolescents and teenagers, and I use many different activities to help them discover their inner strength. Through a positive therapeutic relationship, I can help you and your child make the changes necessary to live a happy and successful life.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
