Are you struggling through a period of darkness trying to find a light? Are you so overwhelmed with life that you become paralyzed at the thought of making a decision? Things like stress, anxiety or difficult things from our past frequently limits our ability to see our strengths, or what I believe is the light that is innately within each of us. Whether it's difficulty seeing your self-worth, challenging your fears or healing that seems out of reach, therapy is an opportunity to alleviate pain in a safe and supportive environment.

I became a therapist because I genuinely care for people. My practice is centered around building relationships. I believe my greatest strength as a therapist is my life experience. I feel that it gives me a unique perspective that enables me to empathize with my clients. I believe that the most important things a client needs to know is that they are not alone; that there is hope and that they have everything they need inside of themselves to get better.

I’m a somatic-focused EMDR therapist who helps people move out of survival mode, reconnect with themselves, and finally feel like they can breathe again.
I blend somatic therapy and EMDR to help you understand your body’s stress responses and why you may still feel stuck even after talk therapy. We move gently and intentionally so you can feel steadier, less overwhelmed, and more able to show up in your life with clarity and ease.

Death is supposed to happen in other people's lives, not in yours. Your world has been tossed upside down and no matter how hard you try, you just cannot seem to turn it right side up. You feel constantly judged for how you are grieving your loss. Well-meaning friends and family often offer unsolicited advise and platitudes. And, while they may genuinely believe they are being helpful, they only demonstrate time and again that they just don't get it. While you will never be quite the same person you were when your loved one was alive, you can embrace the new you in this new, unwelcome life that you did not ask for.

I am a trans non-binary, bisexual, demisexual, autistic, Queer, disabled survivor. I offer virtual services to people who have similar intersections of identity and lived experiences. I am careful to bring in the shared experiences & hold space for where our experiences diverge. My practice is centered around serving people with marginalized identities. I look at how the individual may be impacted by systems, social interactions, and cultural upbringing to inform the ways that healing and a growth journey might look for an individual. I take into great consideration the identities that people hold in society.

Does everything feel “bigger” for you — emotions, ideas, sensory experiences, responsibilities? Do you find yourself exhausted from caring so deeply or thinking so much? Have you always done life in a way that doesn't quite fit the mold? My biggest delight comes in helping people build a life where they feel free to be authentically them. I often work with people who feel stuck in doing life in a way that works for others, but not them- finding themselves feeling anxious, stuck, not good enough, too much, or full of existential questions. Often people I work with identify as Autistic, ADHD, LGBTQIA+, a rebel, or an outsider.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
