Reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you’re used to holding everything together for everyone else. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I believe therapy should feel safe, empowering, and productive. I integrate evidence-based techniques while honoring your lived experiences, cultural background, and personal strengths. Together, we will work to identify patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and strengthen boundaries.

A lot of my clients look like they have it together, and are exhausted by that. They carry things that are hard to name: old relational wounds, anxiety showing as achievement, and shame produced early on by family, religion, or culture. I work with adults navigating life transitions, attachment trauma, perfectionism, identity, and grief that comes with religious trauma. I also work with LGBTQIA+, ENM, polyamorous and kink-aware folks who are tired of educating their therapist about their lifestyle choices. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, I’m here with you and will support your healing and growth.

My clinical and testing experiences at Baylor College of Medicine, Quentin Mease General Hospital, and Parkview Adolescent Psychological Services have made me proficient in providing weight and chronic disease related behavioral health treatment, assessing academic placement, identifying personality and dementia related memory disorders, and treating depression and anxiety.
My treatment approach is based on over 10 years of providing testing and treatment services. In every case, my primary treatment goal is to help my clients develop the necessary skills--both thinking and behaving-- to improve their health, academic performance, day-to-day functioning and sense of well-being and self-efficacy. I do not fix my clients but focus all my efforts toward helping them to fix or better manage their problems themselves. This is done through fostering client strengths.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re losing yourself in a relationship—questioning your reality, overanalyzing everything, or feeling emotionally drained—you’re not alone. Many of my clients come to therapy after experiencing confusing or controlling relationship dynamics that have impacted their self-trust, confidence, and sense of stability. You may be someone who gives deeply, thinks deeply, and feels deeply—but finds yourself stuck in patterns that leave you anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected. For others, you may be high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel burnt out, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of your next step.

I have lived in Texas for my entire life and love it! While my husband was stationed in California, I was in Austin for my undergrad and graduate programs. Then, after graduate school, I moved to the outskirts of Houston for a couple of years. Soon after, I moved back north of the Austin area in the Ft. Cavazos area. I am the oldest of 5 and come from a small town about 30 minutes away from Uvalde. You may meet some of my complimentary therapy fur babies who ADORE watching Bluey in our sessions together. So please excuse me if I need to silence my mic and tell them to go play somewhere else, haha!

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
