The TF-CBT modality is a wonderful therapeutic intervention in that it helps the child and the parent/guardian/supportive adult strengthen their relationship as well as help the child and family move beyond the traumatic experiences.
Got faith? Most of us struggle with the obstacles and challenges and we are in search of solutions. These struggles can be within yourself or within your relationships with those closest to you. The solutions that we try do not always work because we are looking in the wrong places. With faith in God, we can find the answers together.

My dream is to help individuals, families, couples, or groups of people who are struggling with mental, emotional, or physical health concerns. I want to work with clients to identify the causes of their problems and create plans of action and goals to address those problems. I am a therapist with real-life experiences, and with these experiences, I help my clients gain perspective that will help them regain dignity and ease of mind and belief that through therapy, life has treasures that they have not seen yet due to the haze of mental health issues.

My name's Jessica and I work with neurodivergent women, especially moms, who in many ways, don't want to end up like their own mothers. They don't want to live life with anger, resentment, loneliness, martyrdom, or low self worth. They don't want to move from connection to connection without ever really feeling like they belong. Many of my clients come to therapy carrying things no one should ever have to carry alone. They need help understanding their feelings, overcoming the negative self talk loop, reconnecting with their body, and finding joy and compassion for themselves and others despite their own curated chaos.

Could alcohol/drug use be a problem for you? Do you have a pattern of use that is consistent in some way? Have you tried to stop, only to find things are getting worse? Do you feel helpless watching a loved one self-destruct before you? Have you tried to talk about the issue only to walk away feeling defeated and confused? Have you come to realize your life is nowhere near where you thought it would be at this time of your life? Do you feel like a stranger in your own house? Do you want peace and a sense of self again? I can help you find both.

I also have experience supporting teens and hold a special interest in working with parents of children with special needs.
I approach counseling with curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for your lived experience. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to healing, which is why I tailor my approach to fit your unique needs and strengths. I believe the most meaningful growth happens within a trusting therapeutic relationship built on mutual respect and collaboration.

With over 20 years of experience as a therapist, specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, social skills, parent education, coping skills, suicidal ideation, academics, college prep, and drug/alcohol abuse.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, (1943), "The Theory of Human Motivation", reads: if a person’s basic needs (food, shelter, physical/mental safety) and social needs (love, belonging, self-worth, sense of purpose) are not fulfilled, that person will experience frustration and will “pivot” on a level of need that appears easiest to satisfy. Which level of need are you "stuck" on? Are you bound by anxious, fearful and mind-binding thoughts? Freedom is a goal that can be attained.

If you or your family are struggling with issues like substance abuse, addiction, eating disorders, or relationship conflicts (infidelity, communication problems, etc.), therapy can be a great way to deal with those struggles. Most people struggle without support for longer than is helpful. People have the innate skills to cope and bounce back from their struggles. My goal as a therapist is to provide a non-judgmental space for you to identify and grow the tools to work on those struggles.

The struggle is real. Life is challenging, and at times, overwhelming. Perhaps you would like relief from symptoms of anxiety, confusion, or depression. Perhaps you are looking for greater understanding and insight into your relationship patterns. Or, are you coping with life transitions, such as the challenges of aging or grey divorce? As a therapist with a mindfulness perspective, I provide a gentle, caring, and accepting environment for thoughtful discussion and a deeper understanding of the self, addressing issues of concern within a broader context.

My foremost concern is to help you make the changes you want to make in a psychologically and relationally sound manner. I enjoy helping people make changes in their lives by discovering and implementing strengths and resources they already possess. To that end, I use an active, solution-focused, and experiential approach. I utilize a number of tools, including hypnosis and other self-regulatory techniques. In other words, I help you to discover or to create solutions, develop a plan to help you find the motivation and direction to apply those solutions, and do so with encouragement, warmth, and support.

I have worked with individuals recovering from substance abuse, healing from narcissistic relationships, adjusting to life post-divorce, Veterans readjustment concerns, and parents dealing with daily life.
Don't have time to take off during your regular 9-5? Let me be of therapeutic assistance. I find my mostly evening and weekend availability to be of usefulness to the working man or woman. If you have been pouring into others all day and feel empty at end of the night, allow our time to be a safe place for openness and expression.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
