I specialize in anxiety, trauma , grief, chronic medical illnesses, and relationship work.
Do worry all the time? Constantly criticize yourself? Do you find yourself expecting the worst ? Anxiety is intended as a warning system to show a situation could be harmful. However, chronic anxiety overstimulates your body, mind and dysregulates your body's homeostasis. Anxiety, worry and stress limit how you show up in life. Past traumas and attachment hurts can get triggered leading to conditioned patterns and self defeating habits. Awareness of these patterns is the most powerful tool to enact change.

In my experience as a mom, a trauma -focused counselor, and a clinical supervisor, I understand how difficult this can be.
It’s a tough job caring for others. If we aren’t careful, we can get so focused on helping and nurturing others that we neglect ourselves. Eventually we may start to feel a bit frayed around our emotional edges, notice changes in our physical health, and perhaps even struggle to remember what we need or want out of life. If you have reached this point and want to make a course correction, I would like to work with you.Whether you are someone who is caring for others in your family or friend group or you work in a helping profession, it can be challenging to give yourself permission to take care of your own needs.

We offer client-centered care that is trauma informed and inclusive.
We provide psychological evaluations and psychotherapy to serve clients who are ready to embark upon the journey of healing by assessing and processing unresolved issues and exploring unsettled emotions and behavior. Our goal is to help clients gain insight into symptoms that have affected their daily lives and relationships by supporting clients’ exploration into what underlies their issues. The question is not “What’s wrong with you” but rather “What happened to you, and how can you become a better version of yourself?"

My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, trauma , co-dependency, grief and loss issues, life transitions, relationship and boundary issues, and issues related to aging/illness.
I'm interested in working with you to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship in a safe non-judgmental environment where you can get the help you need. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and supported so you may express your feelings and experiences in a relationship where you can feel heard and understood. It takes a lot of courage to see a therapist and share your painful, angry and anxious feelings; a good therapeutic relationship can become a foundation which you can use to make significant life changes, decrease depression and anxiety, improve your relationships, and achieve goals that really matter to you.

There are many types of trauma , and trauma is subjective. Trauma can happen to your body, mind, and spirit. It distorts our identity, causes us to doubt our purpose, and influences our sense of meaning. We feel unsafe, alone, unknown, and scared. Some of the most challenging types of trauma to overcome are pre-verbal or early childhood abuse/neglect and relational or attachment trauma . EMDR is a protocol allowing someone to reprocess trauma quickly and with minimal risk of retraumatization. Focus is given to maintaining psychological safety at all times, and you are in complete control of the process.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
