You look like you’re holding it together, but inside, you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or never quite “good enough.” You may be a teen or young adult, often high-achieving, who puts a lot of pressure on yourself and struggles with perfectionism, stress, life transitions, relationships, body image, or food. If you’re an athlete, you might feel defined by performance, battling fear of failure, injury, or burnout. You want relief from anxiety and self-criticism and a way to feel more confident, balanced, and at peace with yourself.

My primary focus is working with couples who care about each other but feel stuck in repeated conflict, disconnection, resentment, or communication breakdowns. They often come to counseling feeling frustrated, emotionally distant, or unsure how to get back on the same team. I help them identify unhealthy patterns, improve communication, rebuild trust, and create more stability and connection in the relationship. I also work with athletes and high performers who are dealing with pressure, self-criticism, stress, or confidence issues and want practical tools to respond in healthier, more effective ways.

As a former student-athlete, I understand what it means to be driven, focused, and resilient but also what it feels like to struggle behind the scenes. The pressure to perform, the constant pursuit of excellence, and the challenge of balancing your identity as an athlete with the rest of who you are it’s a lot. I’ve been there, and now, as a counselor, I’m here to support others who are going through it too.

Are you worried about the security of your online psychotherapy notes? If large companies such as Change Healthcare and Transunion can be victims of a data hack, so can electronic health record companies. Indeed, a quick internet search will show you that psychotherapy notes have already been hacked and held for ransom. Tech experts have recently indicated that 1 in 6 data breaches now involves AI and that will likely get worse. If you want your psychotherapy records to be securely away from internet criminals across the globe, call my office. I'm old school. I use paper records and store them behind 3 separate locks.

As a therapist, my hope is to work with clients to develop an understanding of behaviors and implement healthy patterns that allow them to live their lives without needing therapy consistently. I believe that a client gets out of therapy what they put in. My desire is to work with individual adults, parents, and adolescents as they navigate the hardships that life brings within the high-pressure society that we live in today.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re losing yourself in a relationship—questioning your reality, overanalyzing everything, or feeling emotionally drained—you’re not alone. Many of my clients come to therapy after experiencing confusing or controlling relationship dynamics that have impacted their self-trust, confidence, and sense of stability. You may be someone who gives deeply, thinks deeply, and feels deeply—but finds yourself stuck in patterns that leave you anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected. For others, you may be high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel burnt out, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of your next step.

Sports Performance Therapists
How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
