I particularly enjoy working with individuals who have endured significant trauma, those with Borderline Personality Disorder & clients with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (or tendencies).
I ascribe to a humanistic and psychodynamic approach and philosophy of counseling with some cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) mixed in. I focus on client’s emotions, perspectives, and life experiences, rather than just treating symptoms. I believe each client is different, what works for one will not work for all. Therefore, I take a dynamically informed approach when creating a treatment plan that will work best for each individual. I work with clients ages 12 and up.

I also specialize in working with individuals that have experienced mental/emotional abuse from a narcissistic parent, guardian, or romantic partner.
I believe that we all experience trauma at some point in our lives whether we recognize it or not. Unaddressed and unprocessed trauma affects all aspects of our lives - school, work, parenting and relationships. Initially, my goal is to help individuals understand and identify trauma and how it impacts everyday living. As the therapeutic process continues, I will aid in creating new healthy pathways of thinking as well as how to react and respond to triggers that result from past traumatic events.

I specialize in working with adult survivors of narcissistic , borderline, or antisocial (psychopathic) parents. I also work with people struggling with partners who have these disorders. As a result of this work, I am also skilled in working with trauma. I can help you learn to live without fear, understand your emotions better, and manage your trauma symptoms instead of the managing you. Life is too short to live in fear, to be continually overwhelmed by your emotions, or to be stuck in toxic relationships. I can help you find your way out.

The ability to love, work, and play lies at the heart of human happiness. With trauma, unresolved conflicts, chronic stress or difficult relationships, this ability is often impeded or diminished. I help my patients regain their strength, discover their true selves, and form authentic connections with their loved ones, resulting in a fulfilling and productive life. My clinical interests include anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, trauma, addiction, personality disorders (particularly borderline and narcissistic ), and difficulties relating to others.

I'm an experienced therapist helping clients cope with childhood trauma and those entrapped in the cycle of mentally and emotionally abusive, manipulative relationships that destroy their sense of worth, safety and sanity. Clients reach out after years of unsuccessfully trying to satisfy their partners or family members and wonder if their loved one is Narcissistic or Borderline. They feel perpetually exhausted, anxious, numb, frazzled, confused, guilty, hopeless, ashamed, inadequate, emotionally unfulfilled, frustrated, walking on eggshells. They may habitually self sacrifice and prioritize others’ needs, yet feel like a failure.

Counseling was once seen as something having to do with weakness. Now it used widely & routinely for gaining strength, new skills, making meaning out of one's life & living one's purpose. Living/ loving fully & leading a life that matters has everything to do with finding the right support & mentorship along the way so you can transform vulnerability into strength. I help parents, business leaders, & other adults who want proven skills to help themselves &/or their child succeed. And when families & individual adults experience ongoing stress, loss or trauma, having proven skills & tools is even more important. Help is here.

The journey to do emotional work is not an easy one. I have experienced my own personal work and growth in my life and can meet you in yours in therapy with compassion, vulnerability and empathy. Our life experiences can manifest in many ways and those trauma responses can morph into patterns that leave us feeling powerless and lost. We can be driven by unconscious primary emotions that keep us in a triggered and reactive cycle when we are seeking secure and loving connections. As a change agent and a connection expert, I can assist you in your ability to connect with others and thrive. Supervised: Dr. Paula Boros, No. 203704

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
