Choosing a therapist can be challenging in a lot of ways. For starters, you're probably looking for a therapist because things are a bit tricky right now. You might be feeling anxious already and it can take time to find someone you can talk to. Then, when you finally do meet with someone, it can be hard to trust the therapist in the very first session. On top of that, when you finally DO find the person you're comfortable talking to, your insurance might not cover your sessions, or maybe you don't have insurance at all.

Offering weekly online therapy across Texas and in-person in The Woodlands & The Heights, plus Friday/Saturday intensives, by appointment.
Finding the right therapist matters. Therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and genuinely connected. I see our work as collaborative and honest. You know your life better than anyone, but when you’re inside your own patterns it can be hard to see them clearly. That’s where I come in. Many of the people I work with are reflective, insightful, and capable in their daily lives, yet feel stuck in familiar emotional cycles, relationship dynamics, or internal self-criticism. They want to understand themselves more deeply and create meaningful change. My approach is compassionate, integrative and tailored to your unique goals.

My practice centers around providing clients with the skills that they need to thrive in the face of stressful situations. Prior to entering private practice, I worked as a clinical psychologist on the spinal cord injury unit at TIRR. These individuals would have never otherwise sought mental health care but were faced with one of the most stressful and challenging experiences of their lives. My role was to help these individuals to effectively cope with serious, adverse medical events and to live happy, fulfilling lives. Likewise, in my private practice, I strive to help clients successfully navigate complex situations.

I offer therapy in-person in a relaxed office with a patio, or virtually.
Seeking support is a sign of strength. I’m an EMDR-trained therapist, and my work is strongly influenced by my own life experiences. I know firsthand how going through hard things can hold you back. With the right tools and support, though, it’s possible to work through the past and move toward the life you’ve been dreaming of. I work with teens and adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and school-related stress. I also support young adults and families who have experienced homelessness, relationship struggles, or feel stuck when it comes to setting and reaching goals.

I offer sessions in-person or via Telehealth based on the client's preference!
My ideal clients are the ones who have been told they’re ‘too much,’ ‘too different,’ or who’ve never quite found a space where they belong. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate with a background in supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and I’m deeply passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, people healing from religious trauma, and those navigating life in multicultural spaces. I believe therapy should be a place where the misfits, the black sheep, and the outsiders finally get to breathe. If you’ve ever felt like the world wasn’t built with you in mind, you’re in the right place.

Hello and welcome! My practice specializes in assisting individuals through transitional points in their life whether that is the loss of a relationship, new employment/career, retirement, job loss, infertility, the diagnosis of a chronic health condition, divorce, unemployment, accident/injury, or the death of a loved one. Often these transitions produce anxiety, fear, sadness, depression, and anger. It is not uncommon to feel "stuck" during these transitional points and speaking with a professional is often beneficial to process these changes/challenges.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
