I am an anxiety and OCD specialist. I believe that people can learn to move on from their anxiety or OCD without the need for long-term treatment. I generally work with my clients for long sessions in a short period of time instead of one hour a week for many months. Most people find that within that short window they have the skills needed to understand and work with their anxiety independently.

With over 25 years of professional experience and years of private practice, I left the therapy world when I discovered the opportunity to advocate for individuals and families. As a Therapeutic Consultant, my goal was to help people find the best fit for interventions for mental and physical health care. I soon discovered that the best fit can't happen without good diagnostics first. A team approach is the heart of our program, uncovering what is truly wrong, or right, about your body, mind, spirit and lifestyle. Our concierge diagnostic evaluation program provides one-on-one diagnostics and world-class care and support.

I also treat related disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), compulsive hoarding, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, which I deliver in a warm and encouraging manner, sometimes with a touch of humor. To treat obsessive-compulsive disorder, I use exposure and response prevention (ERP), which research has shown to be the most effective treatment for this disorder. In working with hoarding clients, I often make home visits.

My treatment method involves helping you gain insight, take action, make changes, and accept if change is not possible. I will help manage your struggles as well as help you through the normal stressors that often accompany transitions in life. Maybe it is the hurt you feel after a separation, the emptiness you feel when your children leave home, the grief you feel from the loss of a loved one, or the stress from the unbearable work demands. Whatever the cause, I help with the skills needed to either change the situation and/or the way you think about it.

More than just my credentials, I bring my whole, human self to our work together. My path was profoundly shaped by personal experience that taught me volumes about the real, day-to-day impact of these challenges, the fear, the hope, the resilience and incredible strength in a human being. Because I've seen the journey from a deeply personal vantage point, alongside extensive professional experience, I feel I can meet you exactly where you are with authentic empathy. I have both the clinical tools and a heart that has felt the ripple effects of these challenges. I believe this blend allows for a different kind of connection.

Life stopped feeling right. You're pushing through betrayal, burnout, or military stress in Houston, but something feels off. Maybe old wounds have you stuck in patterns of over-functioning, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion. It's not a crisis. It's a quiet drain pulling you away from who you want to be. As a trauma therapist working with veterans, first responders, and adults navigating anxiety, grief, and relationship stress, I help you slow things down, make sense of what's happening, and rebuild with practical tools that fit your life. You don't have to have it all figured out. You can come as an individual or with a partner.

Is your soul tired? Vacations starting to not feel like enough to rejuvenate you? I’ve been where you are and thought a week away, a good brunch, mindlessly scrolling or binge watching a good show was all I needed to get back to feeling like myself. Instead, I was using those avenues to mask or even overcompensate for what I was really feeling: unfulfilled, under appreciated, overwhelmed and just overall unsatisfied with my life. Does this sound like you? Let’s talk so we can figure out when and why all of this started and set you on a trajectory that re-motivates your passion and vigor for life.

Hoarding Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
