Part of my journey in becoming a counselor consisted of various trauma, grief, and significant losses.
You’re going through something, which is why you’re here. Trauma, grief, loss, depression, anxiety, fear, stress, anger, hopelessness, confusion, or even something you may not fully understand. There could be struggles with self-worth, self-esteem, identity, relationship issues, dissatisfaction with a career path, or your direction in life. Working together, we will go on a journey and begin the process. The process is your own unique journey through therapy. If you have a problem, I want to help you find the solution.

I have walked with clients through the grief process and as well as helped them navigate through life's transitions such as divorce, illness, and relocation.
Overwhelmed? Angry? Afraid? Depressed? Do you feel as if you are alone? Grief, relationships, childhood trauma and other experiences have a way of making us feel a wide range of emotions. In my own life, I have experienced many of those same feelings. The good news is that you don't have to go through it alone. I can help you get to a better place mentally!

What fills you up? Knowing this is so important! It can help you combat anxiety and depression, process loss or grief experiences and work through many of life’s transitions.
At times, we all feel wounded or slighted by life. For some, feeling better may mean learning how to live with or without someone or something…whether that be a person, a pet, a dream or expectation. For others, it might mean learning how best to honor or understand the past, discover the freedom of living life in the present, or navigating a more purposeful path forward. It is the path we choose that can either mend those wounds to help us heal or harbor wounds that don't grow us. Through the path of counseling, we can learn to lead a more purposeful and healthier lifestyle.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
