I have successfully taught children as early as those in Program Head Start, before becoming a Texas Teacher & School Counselor, and ultimately a LPC-Supervisor . As a child advocate who tries to understand the needs of the child in hopes of helping with mental or emotional turmoil. One may say or think that I specialize in treating children? This would be false, because I can't recall a situation where I could help the child without helping the parents, and even the whole
family
.
Family
history and dynamics plays a "Huge" role in your child's development and behaviors.

Whether you are seeking care for yourself, your
family
, or your staff, I am knowledgeable and ready to assist in the evolution.
The beauty of the butterfly lies in its willingness, as a caterpillar, to wrap itself into a cocoon in order that it might evolve and no longer crawl the earth but soar at heights one could only imagine. It knows life literally through highs and lows, just as you. With so many voices, internal and external, the need for a cocoon experience to evolve into your next chapter is inevitable, and wellness is just a whisper away.

A goal to reach in therapy will be to understand how unique every
family
is and the many transitions experienced at every age.
My work is focused on helping Moms and Dads who are seeking ways to improve and navigate their own personal struggles as they raise their children while juggling many roles. When my clients first come to me, they feel a shift in their child's attitude and behaviors as they also experience changes in their life. What worked in a different generation doesn't necessarily work now.

changes such as divorce or separation.
I am incredibly fortunate to have my dream job and feel a sense of fulfillment and pride in my work everyday. I know for many of us we do not have that opportunity and have numerous challenges that prevent us from feeling fulfillment, happiness or stability, which can cause immense distress that may be due to anxiety, depression, panic, and feeling lost in general among other complex emotions. Counseling can help give you clarity, and create and work towards goals that lead to happiness and optimism about life overall, you just have to reach out.

Seeking therapy can often feel like a scary and foreign concept. My job is to provide a safe place for you, and your
family
to process life's complications and unload the burdens and losses that are too difficult to be faced with alone. In all of my work, self-esteem and identity formation are a key ingredient. I believe that the skills and strengths it takes to create a life where we are fulfilled and loved already exists within all of us, we just need a little help to harness them. I want to help you identify your skills and values, find self-compassion, and find the courage to try new behaviors and to reach new goals.

I take the bio-psycho-social approach towards helping you, your
family
, and your relationships.
Associated with Greater Houston Psychiatric Associates, PLLC. My treatment method involves helping you gain insight, take action, make changes, and accept if change is not possible. I will help manage your struggle with mental illness and will help you through the normal stressors that often accompany transitions in life. The hurt you feel after a separation. The emptiness you feel when your children leave home. The grief you feel from the loss of a loved one. The stress from the unbearable work demands. Whatever the cause, I help with the skills needed to either change the situation and/or the way you think about it.

My private counseling practice offers services to individuals, couples,
family
and children whose past trauma and or mental health interfere with their daily life.
I have witnessed the value of resilience through healing. In my practice, I work with clients to offer individualized treatment to who you are as person, rather than cookie cutter services. The stigma associated with therapy and mental health, especially in the minority communty is damaging. Our fear of looking “crazy”, especially in todays' society continues to hold us back. You are not crazy for getting the help you need. You deserve to heal. Your community needs you to heal so you can give back in a healthy way. Your healing is your community healing.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
