Though I am knowledgeable in several types of therapy, my preference is a combination of trauma-informed, emotionally focused therapy that is strength-based and person-centered.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and finding the right therapist is an important step. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, respected, and understood within the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can explore challenges openly and at a pace that feels right for you.

You've done everything right. The degree. The career. The therapy. And somehow your relationships still aren't working.
Nobody taught you what healthy love looks like in a body raised to over-give, stay strong, and never need too much.
If you're in a relationship, the communication has broken down. Same arguments. Growing distance. If you're single, you're done with situationships and dating that goes nowhere.
You want something real.

When we reach the limits of our emotional pain tolerance, we may see that the way we’ve been coping with our stress and pain is not sustainable. This can look like disordered eating, self-harm, self-medicating, perfectionism, self-sabotage, or isolation. This realization is particularly hard when our ways of coping feel like a lifeline and the idea of change feels at best theoretical and at worst like an invitation for impending doom. Our inner beliefs of being unworthy, unlovable, unsafe, out of control, and powerless ensure that we keep choosing the same self-destructive coping strategies over and over.

I am a QEEG-Diplomate and Board-Certified Neurotherapist (BCIA) specializing in QEEG brain-mapping and Neurofeedback. I use evidence-based neurophysiological assessment to identify patterns of dysregulation and design targeted Neurofeedback training programs tailored to each client’s needs. Through Neurofeedback, I can help your emotional and cognitive states improve as well as your mental performance. Some clients have also found it as an alternative to medication through the brain learning to self-regulate. If you or anyone you love is looking for medication alternatives, neurofeedback would be an opportune place to start.

Many people with eating disorders have a history of traumatic experiences, but I also believe that the eating disorder is a traumatic experience itself. When we treat eating disorders, we are treating trauma. People with eating disorders are often very accomplished because they are so hard-working and caring, but I always find myself wondering, what more could their life hold for them in recovery? How much more could they enjoy their accomplishments and their lives? In addition to working with patients individually, I specialize in family based treatment, which helps families learn to support their loved ones' recovery at home.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
