Welcome! My name is Carleen Waller and I am an LPC in Texas. I have over 12 years experience working in a variety of different settings. This has allowed me to develop a better understanding of where clients are in different areas of their life. I specialize in helping people with depression, anxiety, self esteem issues, major life changes, and stresses of daily life. In therapy, I create a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and begin overcoming obstacles. Together, we will identify the root cause of your challenges and create a plan that will allow you to learn and practice healthier ways of coping.

My main purpose as a therapist is to help people overcome obstacles that are in the way of a happy, functional life. If you change your circumstances - whether that be a job, a new relationship, or you have started working out... And still find yourself generally unsatisfied, anxious, depressed or in the same relationship patterns, I'd love to help you. I can't promise it will be easy, but I do want to be a reliable, trustworthy resource for you in getting you where you want to be.

If you're struggling with turning to food for comfort, feeling guilty and ashamed after eating, and worrying about eating WAY too much, then you're in the right place. Whether you tend to overeat because of stress, turn to emotional eating to soothe yourself, or binge eat, you want to understand why this is happening so you can stop it. You're tired of hiding it and feeling out of control. You want to be able to watch a TV show at night and not be obsessively thinking about the sweets in the pantry. You're ready to feel good around food, drop the constant self-judgment about what you eat, and wake up feeling good in the morning.

Ever wondered what truly shapes our views on food, body image, and ourselves? Maybe you're someone who acts like it doesn't bother you, yet still find yourself analyzing every calorie and internalizing each diet set back as a personal failure. Maybe you've been trying for years, only to get sucked back into the cycle. But you're ready to make a change, to find true freedom with food, your body, and yourself. Most of all, you're ready to get your life back. I can help you get there.

Seeking therapy during a period of change and growth can be stressful and scary. Overcoming your personal barriers to change and finding confidence within yourself to reach your fullest potential is possible. I believe that growth and awareness are often achieved in the most difficult, uncomfortable, and challenging moments of our lives. Unfortunately, these are also the moments which can cause us to feel the most isolated and alone, leading us to feel a sense of hopelessness and at times even worthlessness. How we choose to cope and who we choose to have around as we learn to cope can be vital to our growth.

When we reach the limits of our emotional pain tolerance, we may see that the way we’ve been coping with our stress and pain is not sustainable. This can look like disordered eating, self-harm, self-medicating, perfectionism, self-sabotage, or isolation. This realization is particularly hard when our ways of coping feel like a lifeline and the idea of change feels at best theoretical and at worst like an invitation for impending doom. Our inner beliefs of being unworthy, unlovable, unsafe, out of control, and powerless ensure that we keep choosing the same self-destructive coping strategies over and over.

Are you looking for an “anything-but-typical” therapist? Have you struggled to find a therapist who connects with your neurodivergence, idiosyncrasies, or unconventional perspectives? You feel too much — or maybe not enough. Everyone says you're too much — or not enough. You might struggle with the parts of life that others seem to just take for granted, like meeting deadlines, eating without fear, enjoying time with friends, parenting without guilt or shame, looking in the mirror, making and keeping plans, paying bills on time, or controlling your anger over seemingly small things.

Sometimes even the smartest and most capable women I know feel stuck. It could be moving beyond an issue in a relationship, anxiety, perfectionism or it could be an eating disorder or traumatic memory. You may feel like you are underperforming in life and relationships or just completely overwhelmed with everything going on. When we do not have the social support we need or just not sure how to use our social support, it can be helpful to talk to a professional and get objective feedback. To be asked thought provoking questions. To get ideas with how to move forward and start thriving in life!

My great passion as a Health & Wellness Professional is to help you build a healthier relationship with food & your body, cultivate emotional agility to freely express yourself, & be able to communicate your needs/wants to others more effectively. While I’d love to help you improve your mental health through physical activity & balanced nutrition, I also understand that everyone’s starting point in therapy can look very different. It would be my pleasure in meeting you where you are in your journey to help build your own tool box of skills so that you can lead the life you deserve to live.

Did you grow up in a controlling religious environment? Did you receive shaming messages leaving you to feel divided on the inside? These experiences can be confusing, making it difficult to know who you really are or what you want out of life. Even though you’ve left the church where you grew up, you still feel shame, guilt, anger, and more. Your family relationships are strained because you no longer fit in with the family culture. These problems have negatively affected the way you interact with romantic partners, authority figures at work, and even with your own body.
