I’m deeply committed to helping people heal from trauma. Whether you're carrying painful memories, feeling disconnected, or overwhelmed by your reactions, I offer a space where you can feel seen and supported. Trauma can disrupt how we think, feel, and relate to the world. I’ll walk alongside you at your pace, creating a warm, collaborative space to explore your story. Our work may take place indoors or outdoors (depending on your preference) as I draw from both traditional therapy and ecotherapy approaches to help support grounding, safety, and self-trust as you move toward healing.

I have experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, depression, anxiety, children, teens, adults, & groups.
I entered this field because I am passionate about eliminating the mental illness stigma and closing the gap to access to care, particularly in black and indigenous people of color (BIPOC) communities. I was disheartened by the lack of access to care for my students and their families, as well as a lack of cultural representation in the field. Patients would say they appreciate my ability to relate in many ways; culturally, as a military veteran, as a single mother faced with many challenges, or even as a product of very strict religious beliefs, having grown up in the south.

My clients often experience feelings of alienation, difficulty connecting with others, and emotional distance, which can sometimes lead to depression or insomnia. Have you ever felt that your relationships with those around you aren't working out for inexplicable reasons, or wondered if it's somehow your fault? The difficulties you're facing are never your fault. It's important to face these challenges without self-blame and take a positive step forward. These difficulties are never your fault. Seeking support requires courage.

Do you ever feel like you have to be the “good” daughter, son, partner, or parent—always showing up for everyone else—while inside you’re struggling? From the outside, life may look fine, but inside it feels overwhelming. You don’t have to carry that alone. I specialize in working with BIPOC individuals who have experienced relational trauma and the ways it shows up in anxiety, depression, and trauma responses like excessive anger. I’m here to listen, to really see you, and to help you understand what’s behind those feelings. If this speaks to you, I encourage you to reach out—I’d be honored to walk beside you, you are not alone.

I work from a cognitive behavioral approach in therapy and I enjoy working with adolescents and adults. My style is supportive and encouraging, as I promote overall well-being through the exploration of unhealthy thoughts, emotions, and behavior. I believe the therapeutic relationship to be collaborative, working together to reach goals. I truly believe that change is possible and work with individuals to move beyond the “stuckness” that sometimes occurs in life. I also encourage the development of strong and supportive relationships and healthy boundaries.

I have accumulated years of experience and training working with adults and children in various capacities, specifically facing trauma and abuse.
Maybe you've just experienced one of the hardest moments of your life. Or perhaps you find yourself saying, "others have it worse, my problems aren't as bad," yet you continue to find yourself suffering in silence. Maybe you've built your life around the premise that others needs/desires/feelings are more important than your own and you've muted yourself in order to show up for everyone else. Perhaps today you'll consider putting yourself first. Now is the time to take the necessary steps to face the parts of yourself you've stored away for too long. It's time to walk into a new season of your life that focuses on you.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
