Are you the person who wants someone to talk to but scared because it might be awkward? Do you have it all together on the outside but inside think “no one understands!” Are you concerned that talking to someone may bring up (yuck) emotions that you hate? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you are in luck! I’ve been that person before and know how difficult it can be to even think about seeking a therapist. This understanding has helped me assist multiple clients with exploring their inner selves. I have a passion for building relationships and connecting with my clients to alleviate feelings of awkwardness.

As human beings, we all have a need to feel seen, heard, and emotionally held. As a therapist who specializes in working with members of the LGBTQ community, I apply this humanistic approach to my work with my clients. Seeking out therapy takes courage and can be scary. I take an integrative and non-judgmental approach with my clients and create a safe and nurturing environment for my clients to explore and grow. I believe in being real and authentic with my clients. While I tend to take a holistic and person-centered approach to my work, I am also trained in DBT skills as well as EMDR.

On top of really working to connect with clients, I use evidenced based modalities (EMDR/ DBT /TBRI) as well.
We all struggle at some point. We all feel as though we aren't achieving our goals. We all goes through the motions of day to day life at some point thinking "something has to change". One of the best (and hardest) things someone can do is recognize when they need a little extra support, and it seems as though you've reached that point. And that is okay!! What a wonderful step you are taking to regain control of your life, relationship, or overall well-being. You have the answers to your problems, we just have to dig and work a little to get you that point of realization.

I have helped my clients using EMDR, DBT , meditation, breathwork and energy work to get your mind, body and spirit working together.
Trauma, grief, stress, anxiety and depression can all effect how we view life. The thoughts that run through our minds and feelings in our hearts effect our bodies, behaviors and reactions. The first step to regaining real healthy control over your life is building awareness of your body, emotions, thoughts and behaviors. Learning healthy ways to cope is equally important. There are many moving parts that are crucial for good mental health functioning. Having a treatment plan and an experienced professional to help guide you through all these moving parts will help ease the struggles that go along with your journey.

I work within a DBT , CBT, Existential framework to find solutions to our anxious thoughts and feelings, and to understanding what sets them off.
Hi! You've made it. Life can be overwhelming especially when we experience anxiety, racing thoughts, sadness and doubt. Then we try to forget what happened to us, but somehow it's not happening. My goal is to help you reconnect with what is important to you. We all need a safe space and healthy support while healing pain and learning new way to cope. Sometimes we just need a little extra encouragement and therapeutics to heal and grow without shame and judgement.

We may decide to use artistic processes, such as drawing, painting, writing, body movement, dreamwork or more traditional therapies, like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT ) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in our work together.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to creating a safe space for sharing, healing, and transformation to occur. I approach this relationship from a client-centered and trauma-informed perspective, and my therapeutic orientation is holistic, intuitive, and integrative. Art therapy and other symbolic communication can be an important component of psychological healing, and I specialize in expressive therapies that encourage self-exploration.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
