I believe that seeking help is often the hardest and most courageous step. Brene Brown beautifully said that "courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen." Vulnerability, shame, and fear can make sharing difficult, but these are normal companions on the path to change. Trusting the process and accepting your emotions are key steps. Through our darkest times, there is much to be gleaned, and as your therapist, I am here to walk alongside you through the ups and downs of your journey.

Are there times when you feel alone? Have you experienced periods of sadness and frustration while attempting to do your best each day? Are you taking care of others and paying attention to your needs last? Are you struggling to make life changing decisions? Are you dealing with difficult relationships, stress, depression, anxiety or trauma? Sometimes you can feel uncomfortable opening up to the people closest to you. Welcome to a journey of self-discovery and healing! I believe that the mind, body, and spirit must work together for us to become our best and most beautiful selves. Sometimes life’s journey can feel like one obstacle after another. We will challenge self-defeating beliefs, unhealthy addictions, and self-defeating patterns of behavior. Depression, anxiety, trauma, etc have a way of interfering with day-to-day living and blocking us from peace and happiness. But there is HOPE.

I work with partners navigating the pain of infidelity, addiction, and betrayal—challenges that can deeply damage trust, but don’t have to end the relationship. Repair is possible. Drawing from the Gottman Method, I help couples recognize patterns such as constant criticism and contempt—clear red flags that erode connection. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I guide couples in uncovering the deeper emotional cycles beneath their arguments by exploring both secondary and primary emotions. My interest in the above topics has led me to write a book called Voice of Silence, which will be released this summer. Be on a Look out!

I draw from a foundation of Psychodynamic principles and incorporate a range of techniques from other philosophies to address current and past experiences that may be influencing relational patterns and interpersonal relationships. I believe that in helping to bring the unconscious in conscious awareness, we open new opportunities to move towards increased self-awareness and more intentional living.

If you appear successful on the outside but feel anxious, burned out, or disconnected underneath, you’re not alone. I work with adults, teens, and veterans who are used to carrying responsibility but know something isn’t working anymore. As a U.S. Air Force veteran, I understand pressure, performance, and emotional shutdown. I especially help men who struggle to open up but want practical tools that lead to real, lasting change.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
