Maybe you've just experienced one of the hardest moments of your life. Or perhaps you find yourself saying, "others have it worse, my problems aren't as bad," as you constantly find yourself suffering in silence. Maybe you've built your life around the premise that others needs/desires/feelings are more important than your own and you've muted yourself in order to show up for everyone else. Perhaps today you'll consider putting yourself first. Now is the time to take the necessary steps to face the parts of yourself you've stored away for too long. It's time to walk into a new season of your life that focuses on you.

Are you feeling stuck or uncertain about the next steps in your life or career? Does fear of risk or performance paralysis hold you back? Do you struggle with confidence or find yourself avoiding social situations? Having personally experienced profound life changes—like my emergency relocation to St. Louis after Hurricane Katrina navigating the challenges in a new city and saying good-bye to family and 40-year relationships. I relate to the sense of urgency, financial stability, and need for connection. The cumulative grief and trauma from life events highlight the importance of specialized care in the healing process.

Do you feel weighed down by past trauma and dissociation? Maybe you feel unseen as you grieve the loss of a pet? Maybe you’re navigating a late-in-life neurodivergent diagnosis, or feeling disconnected from who you want to be. Or perhaps you are childfree and feeling judged. These are some of the topics I specialize in. You don’t have to go through this alone. I specialize in trauma, grief, dissociative disorders, LGBTQ+ concerns, and late-in-life diagnoses of ADHD or autism. My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered—I believe healing happens when therapy honors your pace, your story, and your strengths.

I have yet to meet anyone whose life experience has been wholly devoid of struggle. It seems to be part of the human condition. Although relative, these struggles are something we are all faced with from time to time throughout our lives. In my experience, therapy provides us with the means to not only face and overcome these struggles, but also to find empowerment and purpose within what may have previously been only pain. My belief in the transformative gift one can experience through effective therapy was born during my own personal journey of healing and growth, and later solidified through my work with others.

Are you struggling with your relationship? Do you feel stuck in the same cycle? Maybe trust has been broken and you can't seem to get past it, or you're dealing with stress and challenges that you don't feel equipped to handle. You might feel like this has been a long time coming, and things have come to a head. You've probably tried everything and nothing seems to work. If you are feeling hopeless, I can honestly tell you that things can get better. I can help you find hope and move forward.

Mental health challenges do not define an individual. They are natural human trials to be experienced. I’m an award-winning psychology researcher with over a decade of research experience and I’m prepared to assist in your well-being journey. I approach the human condition as if we contain natural resources, yet to be mined, to achieve full potential in life and relationships. There’s optimism in human nature and it contains hope to aspire towards greater self-understanding. Once a person becomes more self-aware of his/her behavior, it’s possible to change or adapt for the better.

I draw most often attachment-based approaches, integrating mindfulness, values, and emotional exploration into the work.
My patients often struggle with trauma, chronic suicidality, identity or self-worth, and the impact of marginalization, particularly on LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent folks. I have worked with personality disorders, burnout, chronic pain and illness, eating disorders, and the aftermath of religious or attachment trauma. I am passionate about supporting men in therapy, particularly around emotional expression, vulnerability, and relational challenges, as well as working with disability as both lived experience and identity.

My specialty is intimacy disorders including sex/love addiction/avoidance as well as codependence caused by developmental trauma. Bad relationships can ruin your life & your happiness; however, relationships can be turned around. When addiction is present, the chances of real intimacy are small. Love addiction is a powerful & debilitating disorder that is very serious & potentially life threatening. Developmental trauma is a set up for self esteem & intimacy issues. If left untreated developmental trauma can lead to mental & physical illness (Pia Mellody, ACE study). You're not alone!

My therapeutic style tends to be very interpersonal, relaxed, and engaged. I will frequently check-in about thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations that are arising during the session. I also help clients identify patterns and connections when appropriate to the therapeutic goals. I most often use an interpersonal culturally attuned person centered approach to therapy that integrates theory and interventions from ACT, DBT, MI, and solution-focused.
