Focus areas: brief psychotherapy, anxiety, depression, anger management, grief, mood disorders, and marital/family therapy.
The beauty of the butterfly lies in its willingness, as a caterpillar, to wrap itself into a cocoon in order that it might evolve and no longer crawl the earth but soar at heights one could only imagine. It knows life literally through highs and lows, just as you. With so many voices, internal and external, the need for a cocoon experience to evolve into your next chapter is inevitable, and wellness is just a whisper away.

I help young people struggling with their emotions, particularly anger, sadness, and feelings of anxiety.
In our first session, I'll meet with the parent for about 15 minutes to get an initial understanding of need. From there, it's time to meet with the young person for introductions into who I am and my style of therapy and to learn about who they are and their ideas on challenges. This will help to tailor goals for therapy in future sessions.

Uncover and process frustrating sources of anger and anxiety, we might not even know where it comes from to start.
Many of us struggle to manage stress or conflict in our relationships at work and at home. What if it were possible to enjoy our relationships and handle conflict with grace and ease? If your struggling or just feel something is not quite right or as good as it could be in your life, therapy could be helpful. Many of my clients report relief after just a few sessions.

Anger!
You’re the family’s mastermind, juggling not just the home and probably another full time OUTSIDE-of-the-house job. Managing everything from the never-ending 'what's for dinner?' to family appointments, you end up feeling overlooked and empty (and maybe a little resentful)! You tirelessly keep plates spinning, just longing for a moment to truly breathe & be heard WITHOUT being named “Nag of the Year” because you're repeating yourself. Imagine this: you're no longer just 'herding cats' but thriving, feeling valued, respected & effectively communicating with your loved ones— making you the heart of the home and not just its manager.

I specialize in Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, and Couples Counseling.
All the self help books in the world won't help if you don't know how to apply what you have learned. If you want me to tell you it's going to be ok, I can do that, but I would rather you know how to handle life when it's not ok. I am a solution focused therapist and my goal is to help you find the best quality of life, knowing in the end that most people are searching for love, peace, and happiness.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
