“...Be transformed by the renewing of your mind...”- Romans 12:2. Whether you're a child, teen or an adult, the journey of life can sometimes create unwanted circumstances that cause elements of fear, stress, anxiety, sadness, grief, shame and even a sense of lost control. I am here to help! It is my passion and highest desire to assist those seeking to reclaim their greatest quality of life. I hold to the idea that counseling is most effective when it's customized/person-centered and designed to include all aspects of the human mind, body and spirit.

I completed my internships and training at The Baylor Adolescent /Sports Medicine Clinic and Baylor Psychiatry Clinic where I worked with adults, couples and families.
Initiating therapy can be difficult. Even the first phone call can be very anxiety provoking. My goal is to help you discover changes that can lead to a better understanding of your life. Psychotherapy is a process that involves finding the real truth within one's self. With a compassionate approach we will be able to help understand the conscious and unconscious factors that are keeping you from enjoying healthy relationships, love, work, family and other life related experiences. I believe in being empathetic as well as mindful of clients during sessions so that you are able to achieve the goals that you want.

Are you experiencing difficulties in your relationship ? How about struggling to get past a breakup or with self esteem ? If you're dealing with anxiousness, sadness, depression, overwhelming thoughts or having private breakdowns in the bathroom, it's time to schedule a session. If you're finding it hard raising a teenager who’s struggling in school, social settings or at home and they are feeling as if no one understands them, it's time to schedule a session. Having that extra support goes along way. I work with teenagers as young as 13 years old as well as individuals (adults), couples, and families.

I have worked with individuals and families in a variety of treatment settings. My experience as a teacher, mentor, athletic coach, and Dean of Students has allowed me to distinguish the different developmental stages of children, particularly adolescent males. I have a dedicated interest in helping the youth to make constructive changes that allow them to reach goals that their confidence blocks them from obtaining. As a Practitioner working with families, I help clients make substantial changes that center around practical strategies and evidence-based practices that allow them to build strong, nourishing relationships.

I am so proud of you for taking the first step in the therapy process! Im so glad you choose you! No more putting it off for tomorrow or saying maybe it will work itself out. I understand what it means to struggle while trying to achieve your dreams and go through life. We can do this together! I have experienced life and all it has to offer! Now let me talk specifically to my parents! I was a middle school teacher and school counselor, so if there is one thing that I do know it’s understanding teenagers. Are you experiencing a teenager whose actions have changed, seem different, or experiencing abnormal behaviors?

I have worked considerably with pre- teen , adolescent , and adult clients.
There is no doubt that life can get hard, and sometimes we just need to talk about it. I use a very heartfelt and humanistic approach when it comes to therapy because as a human being myself, I have seen my own share of adversity and strife. I use a cognitive behavioral approach as well. I truly believe the way one thinks greatly influences their emotions and behaviors. Every person has a story, and I seek to get to know that story. I feel in order to truly understand where one is in life, it is important to understand where they have been.

Whether you are a parent trying to connect with your teenager , a partner trying to deepen your relationship with your partner, or a family struggling to find stability in the fight with addiction, I help my clients grow in their relationships so they can feel a deep sense of connection and move forward in their lives, getting unstuck from past ways of being.
You may feel small in this big bustling world, but the space you take up, the words you share, the quiet moments in passing are significant. Each moment in your life impacts the people around you greatly and is an opportunity to share kindness. While it is easy to feel lost in the nuances of this life and get stuck feeling alone, isolated, and like no one could possibly understand your experience, relationships—with friends, family, lovers—have the power to connect us to something greater than ourselves. But relationships aren’t always easy to navigate, maintain, and understand.

Are you a teen or young adult who overthinks, worries too much, has difficulty focusing because of stress, or fears you're falling behind? Do college, choosing a career path, managing relationships or life transitions feel overwhelming? The pressure to be attractive, fit in, feel understood, earn top grades, and get into the best schools are hard on teens. Choosing a career path, interviewing, living on your own or supporting yourself, or making big relationship decisions can feel scary as a young adult. You don’t have to go this alone. I provide individual counseling and couples counseling for adults, adolescents, and children.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
