I have deep training in numerous trauma/addiction/couples therapies (psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR (EMDRIA trained), addictions, Gestalt) and have learned that amazing progress can be accomplished in/through these areas.
I focus on/value your needs first. As we check-in together, connection, trust and comfort create an honest space for you to share and grow. I approach therapy as a dynamic partnership - where proven technique and deep relational connection yield cognitive, emotional and spiritual integration. Honing technique to fit client needs + personalized connectivity yields clarity and growth. Moving through the process, we target and work toward this result...together.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have spent the last thirty years helping individuals, couples and families with feelings of depression, anxiety, relationship issues and family problems.
Therapy is a partnership that grows in an atmosphere of safety and acceptance. It allows one to rediscover the parts of selves which may have been disowned; to learn new skills to handle grief and distress; to build healthier, more nurturing relationships; and to gain access to one's own direct experience of the world. I nurture this collaboration with clients and recognize that within each of us there exists a deeper wisdom that, given adequate support, naturally moves toward healing and integration.

Psynergy Psychological Associates is a full service psychotherapy office. We offer sliding scale fees for therapy with our LPC-Intern therapists. We are a society in which everyone of us - individually - is expected to "pull ourselves up by our proverbial boot-straps and keep going," which has its benefits and drawbacks, the biggest problem being that the metaphorical straps will inevitably break, often leaving individuals isolated and with relationship and/or work difficulties. I wonder if you could consider it an act of strength and courage - rather than weakness - both to seek help and then to risk receiving it?

I love working with adults and skilled at providing therapy in both individual and couples' formats.
Hi there! My name is Chinh. If you’ve reached my page, chances are that your heart has been broken, you probably just had the umpteenth argument with your significant other, or you are just tired of the endless cycle of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and irrational thoughts/beliefs. I come from a culture that does not typically believe in mental illness. Emotional issues were ignored or swept under the rug. I was taught growing up that I shouldn't talk about my feelings; showing any type of emotion was a sign of weakness. My hope as a therapist is help end the stigma associated with mental illness and normalize reaching out for help.

I have had over 19 years experience and have advanced training in the following areas: virtual/telehealth, attachment issues, relationships/couples counseling, infidelity, stress, grief and trauma, anxiety, parenting (including blended families and pregnancy) as well as mindfulness based body work.
Are you ready for therapy? If you're frustrated, feeling alone in the struggle and interested in understanding more about the patterns that have kept you (and your relationship) stuck, it’s time. Therapy with me will help you get started on the path to making real, lasting changes. I can offer you the kind of support, guidance and gentle feedback that may be useful, no matter the challenge. Let's take the next step together. I'm looking forward to meeting you. Virtual teletherapy is done using Zoom.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
