My goal: To meet you wherever you currently find yourself. Regardless of how that looks at this moment, it's important to recognize that there's nothing inherently 'wrong' or 'broken' about you. If guilt, shame, and maladaptive behavior overwhelms and persist, it signals a need for change. Whether you're navigating PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, or life transitions, my aim is to guide you in understanding, managing, addressing root causes, and initiating a healing process.

I work with adult clients who are struggling with anxiety, stress, trauma, and substance use. If you feel like these issues have taken control of your life and you feel stuck on how to resolve them, you're not alone. Maybe these struggles have become a disruption and a distraction from living your life and doing what is most important to you. Perhaps you feel like you've lost a sense of control and you're ready to get back into the drivers seat to reclaim what is yours. If you feel like you're living your life on autopilot and the brink of burnout, you don't have to any longer. You are not meant to suffer and you deserve relief.

You've felt like you are holding everything up but can barely hold yourself together. You're craving a better life but feel trapped by stress and other obstacles that lead to unwanted behaviors. You've been trying to figure out if this is all due to your past or family but have no idea what step to take. However, you chose not to share any of this out of fear of not being accepted. Taking this step toward a better life is not easy, but you are stronger than you think.

Life was meant to challenge us, but when those challenges become more than we can handle, who can we turn to for that extra support or even just a listening ear? Challenges can come in any form, whether it be in your marriage, from family conflict, or parenting struggles, I make it my goal to walk alongside you in whatever ways you need.

You're an adult woman who's doing it all while feeling disconnected and unsure of what you really want. You feel confused by your dissatisfaction with your primary relationships or your career - because you have a great family, good job, good supports, etc. And, no one really wants to hear about it, often calling you ridiculous instead. You probably find yourself wondering, "What's wrong with me?" or "Why can't I get this right?" If you're looking for unbiased support from someone outside your family and community, I'm here to tell you you're not ridiculous AND I want to hear all about it!

Everyone thinks you have it together, but you’re tired, confused, and lonely. You feel like everything is your fault, and you’re waiting for it all to fall apart. You aren’t rested when you wake up. Getting out of bed seems impossible. You go to work and fake the cheery, “I’m all good.” You can’t focus when you’re there, find yourself daydreaming, and push yourself to concentrate on your tasks. On your way home, you tell yourself you’re going to do this and that. You get the bare minimum done, nod and mumble to your loved ones, and collapse in bed.

I assist my clients in gaining insight into their life experiences through a holistic perspective that encompasses various factors such as genetic predispositions, interpersonal dynamics, cultural influences, and societal pressures. Together, we explore how these elements shape their perceptions and behaviors. Next, we collaboratively determine practical and achievable strategies for adopting new life habits and perspectives. This involves identifying realistic goals and outlining steps to implement positive changes effectively.

Navigating the decision to engage in the therapeutic process can feel overwhelming and intimidating. However, the journey can be one of great reward. Treatment begins with an understanding of you as a unique individual; through collaboration as well as active engagement the process of individual, couple, family, or group therapy evolves. Therapy includes exploration of your past and present relationships, experiences, and struggles so that a deeper understanding of self can be achieved. Greater self-awareness allows for the opportunity to make intentional choices, increased confidence in your authentic self, and navigation of future struggles in an effective way.

We have a fundamental human need for connection, yet feeling connected can be challenging. We are living in stressful times that ask so much of us in every moment, it barely seems possible to slow down enough to even see the possibility of experiencing the love and intimacy we desperately crave. We get caught up in trying to keep up and ultimately lose out on what's right in front of us. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are weary of this lifestyle that keeps us separated from one another and are instead looking to clear a path toward building relationships that provide a sense of calm, safety, and belonging.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
