Counseling can help people discover new perspectives on life situations and learn healthy ways to handle them. Many people feel anxiety or stress because they have not had the opportunity to learn coping skills to manage with certain life transitions and situations. These situations may include fertility issues, sexual issues, parenting, adoption, marriage, divorce, blended families, career changes or other life transitions. Learning to more effectively manage daily life may increase personal satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, parenting skills, job effectiveness, increase self-awareness, reduce stress and improve emotional and physical well-being.

My passion for therapy started with a desire to support teens dealing with self-harm, depression, and anxiety . As a therapist, I have also gained experience working with adults facing self-esteem issues, trauma, difficulties with setting boundaries, communication challenges in relationships, and a lack of personal identity and meaning. I aim to empower both groups to find stability and confidence in their strengths. In today's uncertain world, I strive to help clients find their footing and navigate their future. I also offer faith-based counseling at the client's discretion and have experience addressing religious trauma.

Great parents and great teachers struggle every day feeling like they can't help their kids figure out how to behave and survive their everyday life. They spend day after day fighting, yelling and being exhausted, and having nothing change. Their kids have dysregulated bodies that make them anxious, hyperactive, and sometimes even aggressive. My goal is to help these kids learn to calm and control their body and to help their adults to support them in doing this. I specialize in supporting kids with dysregulation disorders such as autism, anxiety , oppositional defiant disorder, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, and trauma.

Life is not complicated; our minds make it complicated. Of course there are struggles, and that’s all they can be - struggles, but not the end of your life. I know this because I have a mind too and I am a therapist. I have the experience, knowledge and training to help you see your mind at work and most importantly to find meaning in what you do. Teens, adults or couples that get caught up in their routines, thoughts, doubts, fears , logic, emotions, etc. and wish to have meaning or do something important with their lives are welcome.

I have extensive experience with eating disorders, trauma, anxiety , depression, impulsive behaviors including suicidal and self-injurious behaviors, poor body image, relationship problems, life transitions, and low self-esteem.
So many of us are suffering because we are unconsciously holding on to limiting beliefs and maladaptive coping behaviors that have helped us to survive in the past, but are no longer serving us in the present. We fear our own shadow and conceal parts of us that we have been taught not to like — the parts that make us human. This causes our actions to be driven by fear, doubt, and shame rather than freedom, confidence, and love. You have the power to be the person who takes up space confidently, honor your needs, and live from a place of freedom and unconditional love.

Some share an urgency related to anxiety , depression, unresolved anger, intimacy issues, self-esteem concerns, self-improvement goals, women's issues, occupational stress, relationship stress, some personality disorders, trauma, and interpersonal disputes.
How far have you pushed yourself before you noticed you were preparing to hit a standstill and require help? Had a new baby, job, spouse, or life event? Many clients have expressed anxious tendencies when it appears that they were ready to grow in some capacity. Have you been experiencing an increased fear regarding anything? Feeling stuck? That build-up can be the pressure one needs to speak to a therapist. Sometimes life is super busy with all the demands people tackle each day, and non-judgmental spaces to explore thoughts and emotions can often lead to clarity. I am happy to provide that assistance and various methods.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
