In addiction recovery, your biggest adversary is your own mind. Maybe you've asked yourself "why do I have such a strong intent for positive changes, but just as things start to improve I seem to change my mind?" It's the same experience for most of us in recovery; completely normal. Recovery support programs give you the tools you need to transform your life, but what's often missing are the skills needed to use those tools, and a healed nervous system that will allow it. A set of daily practices for both mind and body will change everything for you. Ask about HeartMath and the Safe and Sound Protocol for polyvagal toning!

My ideal client is someone struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, or chronic pain who has not found sufficient relief from standard treatments. They are thoughtful, motivated, and seeking a medically grounded option rather than a quick fix. They want to understand their symptoms, feel safe during treatment, and work with a physician who takes their concerns seriously. Their goal is meaningful improvement—greater clarity, emotional stability, and the ability to re-engage with life—while remaining connected to therapy and ongoing care.

I am an affable person which allows others to feel comfortable around me. This characteristic has provided me the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life and who are facing challenges stemming from present circumstances or past traumatic experiences. My strong background in problematic sexual behaviors allows me the opportunity to help families in their family reunification process that follows the fragmentation caused by intrafamilial sexual abuse. My certification in EMDR, provides me the opportunity to offer individual services for juveniles and adult survivors of sexual assault.

Clients I see are usually struggling with depression, anxiety, couple/relationship problems, family conflict, parenting difficulty, blended family issues, anger, and difficulty adjusting to changes in life. Most clients are not enjoying life and want help making some changes and finding their way through pain, difficult circumstances, and relationships/job issues. About half of my client's are looking for a therapist who can identify with a Christian/Biblical perspective as well. There are times when we experience a lack of emotional balance in our life, which can appear to be accompanied by stress, confusion, a sense of hopelessness or disconnection from families and friends. Challenging and sometimes scary, these moments provide a unique opportunity for self-discovery. My belief is that people have the potential to heal, reinvent themselves, and make meaningful life changes. I have learned through my own life experience how struggles can open a door into a deeper aspect of self, leading to a better understanding of what was missing.

You’re thoughtful, capable, and often the one others turn to — a therapist, coach, leader, or professional who has built a meaningful life but feels tired, anxious, or disconnected from yourself. You’ve done therapy before and value the process, but now you’re ready to go deeper — to heal old trauma, move past self-doubt, and reconnect with your purpose. You want a grounded, compassionate space to integrate what you know in your head with what you feel in your heart.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
