Life can present us with a multitude of seasons—some joyous and others challenging. As your therapist, I am committed to providing a supportive and empathetic space where we can explore these seasons together. Whether you're facing transitions, grief, relationship issues, or difficult past experiences, I am here to walk alongside you as you navigate these challenges. Acknowledging the need for help and reaching out can be intimidating; however, my goal is to provide the space needed for clients to explore the parts of themselves that facilitate healing.

I work with teens, college students, and young adults (roughly ages 14–21+) who are building their lives and stepping into the adult world, as well as adults who feel stuck and want to redefine success and happiness on their own terms.
My style is direct and solution-focused—but always supportive, nonjudgmental, and confidential. My job is to help you feel safe enough to be honest, and supported enough to take action. That can look like holding you accountable, challenging a perspective, and helping you build practical tools you can use outside of session.

My professional background includes extensive work with trauma survivors, as well as children, adolescents, and adults navigating mental health concerns and life transitions.
I believe it is important for clients to find a counselor that fits their personality. I combine effective research based approaches with a warm, friendly, southern personality. There is almost always laughter somewhere in my sessions, even on the tough days. My approach can also include Christian counseling for clients seeking support through faith.

However, since only being able to offer telehealth in my practice, my focus now is aimed more towards adolescents and adults.
My ideal client who is someone that not only is ready for counseling, but is ready to do the work that comes along with it. I often share with clients, that the session is the easy work. After you leave session and return back to your daily routine, that is the hard work. However, acknowledging that you are ready for a change and also acknowledging that this is work, I am happy to work with you.

Why is it so easy to help others, but so hard to help yourself? You may find yourself offering support and guidance to friends, family, or even coworkers, yet struggle to take that same compassion and apply it to your own challenges. Whether you're facing stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or a major life transition, it’s not always easy to navigate these emotions on your own. It’s common to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about where to turn. That’s where I come in.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
