Life comes with unexpected twists and turns that have the potential to leave us feeling broken and asking "why" or "how." Whether these circumstances are unforeseen tragedies, the heavy burden carried throughout a career of service, or a growing and painful distance between you and your partner, healing is possible. Your circumstances don't have to define you or control your life. You can take control over your situation, understand why you feel the way you do, and find the method and means to heal.

I have over three years of experience helping teens, adults, and families.
Wouldn't it be great if life came with an instruction manual? Since it doesn't, stress and challenges become an everyday part of life: whether it is the struggle of getting it all done and trying to figure out all there is to do, a painful experience in life that has you stuck in the past, or the uncertainty of "what's next" that keeps you from enjoying the best of the present. You want to feel empowered in your journey, live today for all it has to offer, clarity in the way ahead, and a purposeful life. While life may not have an instruction manual, we will work to discover what is holding you back and the guide to moving forward.

I have over 15 years of experience helping adults, teens and families in crisis.
My ideal client is someone who appears capable on the outside but feels overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted on the inside. They may be navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, motherhood, or the lingering effects of past experiences that haven’t fully healed. Often, they’ve spent years showing up for others while neglecting their own emotional needs, and they’re beginning to feel the weight of that imbalance.
They need a safe, supportive space where they can be honest without fear of judgment, a space to untangle emotions, set healthier boundaries, and make sense of patterns that keep repeating.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
