My main areas of specialty are anxiety disorders, mood disorders, addiction and trauma.
Does peace feel out of reach and impossible to imagine right now? Peace is crucial to our quality of life and integral to navigating life’s complexities and challenges. All too often we are in a silent war with ourselves and our brain and thought life can lead us to dark emotional places. Feelings of worthlessness, shame, anger, grief, and resentments chisel away at our vitality. All that remains is a heavy tiredness and sense of hopelessness that can make us feel incredibly alone. We are not created to handle soul crushing experiences on our own.

I work specifically with sexual addiction and the partners devastated by it.
What would it feel like to finally stop hiding? To not dread your phone, your spouse's eyes, or your own reflection? Maybe it's porn, affairs, or compulsive sexual behavior you can't stop. The shame is crushing, your marriage is hanging by a thread, and you feel alone. Or maybe you're the spouse who discovered the betrayal. You're devastated, angry, wondering what was real. You want to stop the cycle, save your marriage, and finally feel free.

I specialize in working with adults facing substance use problems, addiction, and a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression and anxiety, chronic stress, divorce, and Trauma.
Healing and growth look different for everyone, and I believe your path should reflect that. You don't have to go through change alone. I believe therapy is collaborative, and that ultimately creative solutions are found in a safe space and working together. Sometimes we simply run up against something external or internal that we simply can't power through, or figure out, on our own. Using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we work together to build lasting coping strategies, improve communication skills, and create meaningful, sustainable change in your life.

Sometimes the mind moves on while the body still feels stuck in survival. You may look functional on the outside while internally feeling exhausted, disconnected, reactive, numb, overwhelmed, or unable to fully settle. Therapy here is not about forcing yourself to “just talk about it” or pushing through what your nervous system has been carrying alone. My work is deeply trauma-informed, somatic, and experiential. I specialize in approaches that help access and process the deeper parts of the brain and nervous system where trauma, emotional pain, and protective patterns are often held.

Life can feel overwhelming when stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma begin to interfere with daily life and relationships. If the coping strategies that once worked no longer seem effective, therapy can provide support, clarity, and practical tools for moving forward. I work with adults and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma, and PTSD in a compassionate, collaborative environment. I have specialized experience supporting neurodiverse adolescents, gifted and talented teens, and individuals with ADHD. I also understand the unique challenges faced by caregivers and family members supporting loved ones.

Helping others and giving back is a quality that has been instilled in me since a very young age. I have grown to value and appreciate kindness, respect and love for others. I am intrigued by the concept that knowledge allows me to enhance the quality of life for another human. This ability is very humbling and rewarding. Enhancing the quality of life is priority in my philosophy of counseling. Each individual is empowered with a valuable gift, the gift of choice. A gift to choose their path in life, sometimes all needed is guidance on which path to take.

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
