Are you caring the weight of service, sacrifice, or survival—often quietly, often alone? You may be a veteran, first responder, or someone navigating the aftermath of trauma, grief, or a major life transition. Often the weight includes anxiety, moral injury, or a sense of disconnection from identity or purpose. I offer a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to reclaim your story. I do not want just symptom relief for you but rather clarity, strength, and a renewed sense of self. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where healing is possible and growth is intentional.

I am an English/Spanish counselor whose main goal is to help my clients find hope, resilience and solutions to their problems. My academic and life experiences have shown me that most challenges and frustrations have solutions. I help my clients understand that the solution is within him/her during those moments when they feel they're unable to endure life's challenges and problems. We uncover the "where, when, and how" and then we find the "why" (reasons) underlying the feelings of doom and frustration. This allows us to discover and implement workable solutions.

As a DBT informed therapist I will assist you in recognizing how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected, and provide you with practical skills that you can incorporate into your daily life.
As I have journeyed through various phases of life, I can recall when I was an adolescent and how difficult it was to adjust to many changes in life internally/externally. As many people have gone through this phase of life and beyond, you and I both realized that there are many junctures later in life that present challenges as well. Have you experienced difficulty with managing and expressing your emotions, have you had challenges with relationships in the workplace, with your friends, family or a companion. Have you recognized that you have experienced anxiety, depression fear and confusion about the past or the future?

I specialize in working with clients navigating anxiety, perfectionism and OCD or OCD-related experiences. Many of my clients outwardly appear to have it all figured out, but internally the dialogue looks different. Thoughts like, "I'm not feeling like myself" might feel central. My passion in this work is to support you in finding whatever it is you are seeking, greater insight, some ways to do it different or maybe something else to be discovered. I believe in therapeutic work that supports not only with insight, but also skills work to assist you in making lasting and sustainable change in alignment with your needs and wants.

I'm a doctoral level clinician with experience and training in trauma and dissociative disorders, as well as DBT and EMDR.
My clients have experienced a traumatic event(s) such as sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, or neglect. The last ones can be harder to define because invalidation is a common form of emotional neglect that is hard to label. Despite what the trauma is or if it falls into one of those categories exactly, if it affects you, then it matters. Clients come to me with confusion and emotional pain that I help them sift through and connect with in order to heal and create their new normal version of life. I welcome all clients from all walks of life, races, cultures, genders, and preferences. I also provide Texas LPC Associate supervision

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
