I am trained in
Emotionally Focused
Therapy which works to strengthen the bonds in your relationships by exploring the cycles couples and families get stuck in.
Asking for help can be the hardest thing that some us will ever do. Life is messy. Choosing to grow is intentional and requires work. It's courageous to say, "I don't want to do this alone." Everyone needs support at some point whether you are battling depression or anxiety, working your way through grief, navigating through a life transition or marriage and family problems. I want to help you find your strengths and explore the patterns that are keeping you stuck. My passion is helping people have the healthy relationships that strengthen and validate the people they are.

(A couple/family that goes to therapy together reconnects together!) I utilize an
EFT
(
Emotionally Focused
Therapy) approach.
Hi there. I specialize with helping couples and/or families who are not satisfied in their relationships. Couples may have a range of issues from poor communication to deep betrayals of trust. Families may struggle with changing roles and dynamics in the home. When a couple or family is feeling disconnected or unsupported, the smallest issue can seem insurmountable. By working with a couples and family therapist, clients can expect to have their voices heard and their concerns validated. I am deeply committed to helping relationships learn to heal and connect.

I completed my 4 day Externship on
Emotionally Focused
Therapy for Couples on Sep/Oct of 2022.
I am an LPC Associate who believes in trusting the process of moment-by-moment, daily transformation. In a safe environment and relaxed body, we can explore emotions understand defenses, and notice the response in our bodies so that we can grow and heal. I believe in human resilience and seek to provide the resources, support, and courage to move through what life dishes out. I find healthy ways to integrate challenging experiences into our daily lives. I help widen the space between stimulus and response (Viktor Frankl), empowering people to choose the response that will enable them to be their best versions.

My primary focus is working with clients who want to create healthier relationships and have more fulfilling connections. This can be for couples or singles. Issues related to family of origin, friendships, intimate relationships, and relationships within families are often addressed in sessions. I also have experience with those struggling with anxiety, worry, and stress. In therapy I believe it is my role to be with clients on their journey of self discovery and acceptance and to build a healthy client-therapist relationship that they can take out into the world and use to build strong connections with others.

It is common for us to get to a place in our lives where we feel stuck or unhappy. We may feel as if we are just going through the motions and find it difficult to see a brighter future. Many of times these feelings can have a negative impact on our overall health and close relationships. Fortunately, there is hope and we do not have to struggle with feeling stuck or unhappy alone.

We all struggle sometimes, but ongoing issues can leave us exhausted, isolated, confused, discouraged... If your days or nights are hard to get through, if you can't seem to settle down or stop overthinking, if life feels scary or you don't know what to do, if you never feel good enough or can't seem to 'get over' or 'stop doing 'x',' I'd love to talk with you. My experience is broad, but my practice is largely focused on anxiety & stress disorders, trauma, grief & loss, and healthy coping/decision making during life transitions.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
