I offer in-person sessions; my practice is safe, friendly, and nonjudgmental.
It takes courage to take the first step and reach out for help. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where you are able to share your story. Maybe you are dealing with relationship concerns, like a change in your family situation. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed. Maybe you are trying to overcome an experience, trauma, or struggles with family, life transitions, friends, or school. My goal is for you to feel honored, valued, and heard. All of these topics can be tough, but talking with someone can help. I would be honored to help you with any of your worries or concerns. I accept insurance.

I currently office in Grandview, TX for in person sessions available during weekdays and some evenings.
For nearly a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and adolescents from traumatic backgrounds, including those affected by abuse and neglect. That formative experience shaped my approach to counseling, which emphasizes understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My clinical focus includes the treatment of anxiety-related disorders—such as phobias, OCD, PTSD, social anxiety, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety. I also work with individuals navigating depression and challenges related to ADHD.

I am seeing clients in person at this time.
"Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, we will encounter many challenges. Some of these challenges will test our courage, strengths, and weaknesses. In order to follow the right path, we must overcome obstacles." Susan Samaroo As a therapist, my passion is to help children, adolescents, and adults manage their emotions and support them as they navigate through the obstacles of life. These obstacles may include anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, and relationship issues.

Accepting Virtual (throughout TX) & In-Person (Cleburne, Grandview, Alvarado, Keene, Rio Vista, etc.
You've built a life that looks successful on paper, but inside, you're running on empty. The pressure to do more, achieve more, and be everything to everyone- the capable professional, devoted mother, present partner, reliable friend- leaves you anxious, mentally drained, and quietly wondering if you're ever doing enough. You wake up already behind. Some days you overthink every decision until you're paralyzed, unable to start what matters most. Other days you avoid it altogether, and the guilt piles higher either way. Perfectionism and self-doubt creep into every corner of your life, quietly eroding your confidence day by day.

I offer in person and virtual sessions for those living in TX and offer virtual sessions for those in CA.
Does your worry feel never ending or does it feel like you’ve had to readjust your whole life? Getting stuck in an anxious loop can make you feel lost, isolated, and embarrassed. I am a therapist who specializes in working with OCD, anxiety, and trauma. Living with these symptoms as the individual or being the caregiver to someone who is struggling can be scary, confusing and frustrating. It's common anxiety and fears start small and eventually grow over time to become all consuming, making you wonder what happened and how did you get to this place. By working together, you can get back to living the life you want to live.

Hey Sandy here. I'm a counselor with a bubbly personality and I like to laugh because life is too short not to laugh. I'm also serious about you taking care of yourself and your mental health so the conversations can get really deep. I use to work retail and make minimum wage for a long time and I know the struggle of living paycheck to paycheck and not knowing what the future holds. Everyone deserves to be heard and have emotional support. I want to work with people to help them with their goals, help them heal, and help them find hope. I hope you'll give me a chance to work with you. Sandy Burton LPC

We offer In Person and Virtual appointments for Children, Teens, Adults, and Families.
Counselors (also called therapists) are good listeners who know how to help. A therapy session often feels like a good conversation with a trusted friend. You'll begin by working with your counselor to identify your specific goals for therapy, and then you will work together to achieve them.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
