Life is changing every day. Before you know it another week or month has passed by. I encourage you to grow, adapt, and be the best you. You have to decide what you want your life to look like. No one else can do that for you. Once you figure that out, I'll help you get there. Or get through whatever you're going through right now in the healthiest way possible. I focus on you. What works for one person doesn't work for everyone; I don't believe in a cookie cutter approach to therapy. Don't wait to figure it out, or get through it, live your best life now. I am proud to be a Flatwater provider.

Your partner is arguing with you about a fight from last week. He’s raising his voice, but all you hear is a voice in your head saying, “How did we get here?” You once shared a deep sense of connection and understanding and now barely make it through the week without bickering. It breaks your heart. The spark between you is gone, and the only time you’re fired up is while blaming one another. It’s devastating to feel the dreams you shared slipping away from you. You’re lonely, misunderstood, and there is a chasm in your bed that’s impossible to cross. You miss the intimacy and love you used to have.

We all face challenges throughout our lives. My focus is on helping individuals see what anxiety is—it started out as a protective strategy. Its job is to make you aware of all possible problems before they even arise…and then it got out of control. You can learn how to handle this stress differently. Remember, it is how you handle a challenge that makes the experience a "grind" or a "growing experience".

Are you going through a period in life where everything feels like a challenge? You might be someone who keeps it together for everyone else but you’re really holding on by a thread. Maybe you’re on autopilot or stay in “fix it” mode even when you’re barely limping along. Or you’re a parent or caregiver who’s stretched beyond capacity. Or a perfectionist who outwardly looks fine but on the inside it feels like you’re drowning. When things feel chaotic or unclear, we need space to think, regulate, and find the next steps — without judgment or pressure.

I'm a relationship therapist who helps people learn to heal disagreements & enjoy being together. People are social creatures. We are meant to be connected. The problem is, we are sometimes not very good at communicating what we need/want. We misunderstand, misspeak & have unconscious reactions to triggers. We react out of fear, anger & pain. In short, misunderstandings & reactions get us into a world of hurt! My job is to slow everything down-to think about problems differently, look for patterns & help find the "why" under the "what". We can work to redefine relationships as safe/dependable & build new ways of being together.

Like every plant in a garden, each person has their own rhythm, needs, and way of growing. Some flourish in sunlight, others in shade. I provide a nurturing, affirming space to explore who you are, how you want to grow, and where you find your ground—at your own pace, in your own way.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
