My work has included supporting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance use concerns, chronic pain, relationship challenges, stress, and major life transitions. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT skills training, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches to help clients build insight, emotional regulation, practical coping tools, and a deeper understanding of their experiences.

You don’t need to come in with everything figured out. You just need to be willing to take a closer look. On the outside, you may look like you have it together—career, family, responsibilities. But internally, something feels off. Maybe it shows up as stress, irritability, feeling disconnected, or repeating patterns you don’t fully understand. You might not have the words for it yet—and that’s okay. Life can feel overwhelming when stress, anxiety, or life transitions throw you off balance. My goal is to help you regain stability and confidence by identifying challenges, so you can move forward with clarity and resilience.

My ideal client is someone who appears capable on the outside but feels overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted on the inside. They may be navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, motherhood, or the lingering effects of past experiences that haven’t fully healed. Often, they’ve spent years showing up for others while neglecting their own emotional needs, and they’re beginning to feel the weight of that imbalance. They need a safe, supportive space where they can be honest without fear of judgment, a space to untangle emotions, set healthier boundaries, and make sense of patterns that keep repeating.

I am a wife and mother, trained in Marriage and Family Therapy, who understands firsthand the benefits (and, yes, even the struggles!) that stem from relationships and life. I believe that compassion and creating a safe space for all to feel heard and respected are essential for the therapeutic path towards satisfying relationships and mental wellness. I also believe personal growth and resilience require hard work and persistence.

Using an Adlerian approach, I want to encourage and empower clients to use their own strengths to attain their goals. I also specialize in sand-tray therapy-which is an effective intervention that helps clients better articulate their past trauma, feelings and emotions, and has been powerful in the healing of depression, grief, addiction, and anxiety in teens and adults. Our counseling center offers an Intensive Outpatient Program for substance abuse, to include individual and group counseling. Finally, I encourage the client to lead their own sessions to heal.

Hi! Have you ever been told you’re “too much,” “too weird,” or “too intense?” I specialize in therapy for the beautifully weird. I gravitate towards helping neurodivergent adults, teens, and the people who love them: gamers, nerds, TTRPG enthusiasts, creatives, professionals, and lifelong outsiders who are tired of feeling like they’re “doing life wrong.” Together, we’ll work with your brain instead of against it, strengthen your relationships, and build practical strategies that benefit your life. Sometimes, I give life lessons in the form of obscure movie quotes, nerdy references, or Dungeons and Dragons lore!

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
