My therapeutic approach combines psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Life can be overwhelming, and you may feel hopeless and stuck. You may struggle with feelings of being lost, exhausted, anxious, or broken, which can make it difficult to function in your everyday life. You know there needs to be change but don't know where to start. The good news is you do not have to navigate through these feelings alone. We all need someone who listens, understands, and supports us without judgment. I am here to help you uncover your thoughts and feelings, empowering you to tackle life's challenges more effectively and live a more fulfilling life.

Psychodynamic therapy is a talk therapy I also use to help you understand and know yourself better.
Hello! My name is Jeanette and I thank you for considering me as your therapist. I am here to actively listen, respond honestly, and together look at all perspectives to your problem. I believe that emotional awareness, self love, and acceptance is the key to helping you find what you really want. I work with young children ages 5-12 and adults 18 and up. My approach is focused on positive regard, respect, and honesty. Having a Christian background and interest in the Arts, I do not force my beliefs and ideas on people.

Adults searching for connection and healing while navigating daily challenges under the additional strain of recurring painful memories and thoughts centered on points in their lives where they were stuck, hurt, alone, or hopeless - these are the people who stand to gain the most from my compassion-focused, strength-based psychotherapy services.

I lean heavily upon Psychodynamic Processes and use Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, as appropriate.
Life can be a grand adventure of discovery, positive change, and transformation, also; at times, we can be at war with life, ourselves, others...all of us have our battles and our “dragons to slay” and grow through. Having spent a decade of my life in the War Zones of Iraq and Afghanistan as a Combat Stress Counselor, travelled the world, and over 40 years of a personal growth journey, I’ve gained deep insight into the human experience and, as a Master's Level Psychotherapist, can help you heal and grow through life's challenges...transforming pain into progress.

My approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and brief psychodynamic therapy.
You don’t have to keep carrying the weight of perfectionism, anxiety, or past wounds alone. I help high-achieving, driven individuals who appear successful on the outside but struggle internally with self-doubt, overthinking, and emotional disconnection. If you’re exhausted from pushing through, striving for control, or feeling like you’re “never enough,” therapy can offer a space to slow down, reconnect, and heal. Healing isn’t just symptom management—it’s about creating a life where you feel grounded, connected, and truly yourself. If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out. I’d love to support you in this journey.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 15 years of experience. I started my career with children and adolescents at risk for mental health issues such as personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, abuse, depression, and anxiety. I soon discovered it is important to consider outside influences on behavior and began working with families as a system. This allows clients to share their stories and allows me to put all of the pieces together for a better understanding. A passion for helping others live their best lives drives me to be so dedicated.

Healing is present when you follow your intuition towards new possibilities. There is an inner voice of wisdom within each of us that longs to be heard, seen, understood and fully met in our stories. When there are opportunities for steadfast support, grounding and attunement, you may more easily get in touch with your authentic self. As you heal, you unload the burdens that no longer serve you. You become aligned with your truth. The essence of our work is in fostering a genuine, sincere, and open collaboration with clients. Trauma healing happens in relationship.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
