My therapeutic framework integrates evidence-based modalities including EMDR and trauma informed practices.
There are demanding times in our lives that can cause us to have challenges with finding the balance between outward focus and allowing time for much needed attention to our inner world. The intention behind my psychotherapy practice is to walk beside you and assist you by utilizing a non judgmental approach so that you can move on to being your most authentic self. Symptom progression such as anxiety, depression, addiction, etc. indicate that it may be time to take a compassionate mind body integrated approach to look inward while inviting healing and wholeness.

I have advanced training in EMDR, Mindfulness, and CBT.
Life can sometimes seem overwhelming, confusing, and filled with despair. Hopelessness can rob us of our joy and lead us to build walls that lock others out. I would like to support you in finding healthy solutions to overcome your feelings of hopelessness, work through life challenges, and move towards a thriving life. I work with individuals through trauma (small/large), PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, sexual abuse, career performance, professional leadership, and life transitions. I also provide couples support related to relationship conflict, communication, pre-marital planning, and intimacy/sexual health.

As a trauma therapist trained in IFS-informed EMDR, I facilitate clients in reconnecting to fragmented parts of themselves and integrating their internal system of parts as a whole.
Most enter into therapy feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, and/or not good enough. It is painful and frustrating to not feel in control of your emotions. Negative thoughts make it hard to feel good about yourself, your relationships, and your outlook on life. I take a compassionate, warm, and direct approach by guiding clients past traditional talk therapy toward inner healing by utilizing evidenced-based modalities including EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Therapeutic models I utilize are ACT, EMDR, CPT, and Parts Work.
I am not accepting new clients right now. - Often times past traumas, relationships or events have caused us to separate from or deny certain parts of ourselves. We may notice life getting more difficult or confusing because we are not functioning as our true, whole self. I believe that the symptoms we are experiencing are messengers from parts of our body or mind that need healing. I work with clients holistically to make changes to the mind, body, and spirit in order to heal the individual as a whole. I will encourage you to reconnect with your body, take back control, and live a meaningful life that you love.

Trauma and PTSD leaves us feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from our true selves. It also often leads us to self-medicate with alcohol, drugs, or other substances. You're someone who takes care of others, but still finding yourself falling short, feeling exhausted and unsure what to do. You work hard and thrive in many areas of your life, yet peace escapes you, you feel empty and sometimes hopeless. But you are ready to make a change. You're ready to feel empowered and hopeful. You're ready to work hard and take your life back. My extensive training in trauma, EMDR and substance abuse will help you heal!

I incorporate EMDR therapy into my individual therapy approach based on my clients’ goals.
Hi, I’m Brittany! I work with women and families looking to recover from traumatic experiences, heal relational wounds, and navigate challenging family dynamics or life transitions. If you relate to any of the above, you know that life can feel like you are not in the drivers seat. I am passionate about creating a space for my clients to reclaim their autonomy and walk away feeling empowered to live the life they want (yes, it’s possible!) My goal is for my clients to feel deeply seen as we make sense of their experiences, inner world, and relationships.

I aim to work in a solution-focused, strength-based, EMDR, and AAC trained.
Do you suffer from trauma due to sexual abuse, abusive relationships, unresolved childhood trauma, and/or generational trauma? We hold on to that trauma in their Physical bodies without knowing. This and the emotional trauma an individual endures show up in our lives even when the action is over. Every relationship is affected as well as how we show up in our lives with work and other activities. This can show up in an abundance of ways. Deep down, we know something is off and want to heal and show up differently; however, we don't know how.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based practices to help clients achieve their goals, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a widely used method of treating trauma.
Do you feel stuck? Do you feel like you have no control over your emotions? Do you worry about everything? Do you struggle in relationships? Do you need to process trauma? I see clients who answer 'yes' to these questions. Together, we can find ways to get unstuck and achieve your goals. Don't have any goals? I can help with that, too! We can look at healthy ways to manage emotions and worry. We can also explore your relationships and identify patterns that may be negatively impacting them. One of the things I hear over and over is that people just want to be heard and validated. There is no "wrong" reason to seek therapy!

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
