Men feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand— anger, emotional shutdown, or repeated struggles in relationships.
I help men understand and heal from the effects of childhood trauma, emotional neglect, and difficult family dynamics. Together we explore how early experiences shape patterns like anger, emotional shutdown, relationship struggles, and compulsive coping behaviors while developing practical tools to manage emotions and respond in healthier ways.

Mental health challenges, trauma, and substance abuse can deeply affect a person's sense of identity. It’s like a part of you gets overshadowed by the struggle, making it harder to recognize who you were or who you want to become. The constant fight to survive or cope with symptoms can consume so much energy that you lose focus on personal goals and passions. Rediscovering a sense of self often involves healing, self-compassion, and taking the time to reconnect with who you are at your core.

My ideal client may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, impacted by trauma, or stuck in patterns they do not fully understand, yet they want meaningful change. They may struggle with emotional regulation, complex relationships, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. They seek a safe and supportive space where their experiences are respected and understood. Their goals include healing past wounds, building healthier boundaries, gaining clarity, and reconnecting with a sense of peace and purpose. They come to therapy not because they are broken, but because they are ready to grow.

Anxiety, depression and trauma leave us feeling overwhelmed, unable to relax, reactive and disconnected. You work hard at trying to navigate everything life is throwing at you, but you still find yourself at the mercy of life’s demands. You sacrifice yourself and your relationships either wither away or they become emotional battlegrounds. You want to flip the script from “life is controlling me” to “I am in control of my life.” You’re ready to make lasting changes and meaningful choices about how you care for yourself and are in relationship with others. You want more out of your life but just need some help getting there.

Has your child been struggling with behavior issues at home or school? Maybe you are confused about how best to parent your child to help with their big emotions and know therapy can help. I am an expert helping children thrive again, find joy, and connect with family and classmates in meaningful ways. Often schools put big labels on children such as "emotional disturbance", "oppositional", or "ADHD" which cause distress for parents and children alike. While I do offer thorough assessments, my focus in on solving the problem and helping children and families find peace, joy and thrive again.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
